NOTICE.

THE EDITOR of the JOURNAL OF SACRED LITERATURE feels it due to the inquiries of many friends to announce in this place that, in the prospect and hope of private as well as of public support, it is still his intention to persevere with this undertaking, although it has thus far been only a trial, a difficulty, and a burden to him, if regarded apart from his deep interest in the objects to which it is devoted, and for which he has in this instance been constrained to make serious sacrifices.

It is hoped that as the next Number commences a new year and a new volume, the friends of the undertaking— whose earnestness and zeal have been his greatest support, and to whom he tenders his heartfelt acknowledgments-will Now make ONE MORE vigorous effort in its behalf. To strengthen their hands in such an effort, it may be further stated that with the next Number the Journal will exhibit some material alterations and improvements, in which, while the main objects of the undertaking will be kept steadily in view, a strong endeavour will be made to render the publication acceptable to a larger class of readers, and to meet as far as possible the
