take of the blood of the sin-offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court. And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple : so shall ye reconcile the house. In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten. And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock for a sin-offering. And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt-offering to the Lord, seven bullocks, and seven rans without blemish, daily the seven days : and a kid of the goats daily for a sin-offering. And he shall prepare a meat-offering of an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and an hin of oil for-ap ephah. In the seventh month, in the fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days according to the sin-offering, according to the burnt-offering, and according to the meat-offering, and according to the oil. Thus saith the Lord God, the gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east, shall be shut the six working-days : but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new-moon it shall be opened. And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priest shall prepare his burnt. offering, and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth, but the gate shall not be shut until the evening. Likewise the people of the land shall wo

worship at the door of this gate before the Lord, in the Sabbath's, and in the new-moon's. And the burnt offerings that the prinee shall offer unto the Lord in the Sabbath-day, shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish. And the meat-offerings shall be an ephah for a ram, and the meat-offering for the lambs' as he shall be able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah. And in the day of the new-moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish. And he shall prepare a meat-offering, an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram : and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an hin of oil to an ephah. And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the porch of that gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof. But when the people of the land shall come before the Lord, in the solemn feasts, he that entér eth in by the way of the north-gate to worship, shall go out by the way of the south-gate: and he that entereth by the way of the south-gate, shall go forth by the way of the north-gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby be came in, but sball go forth over against it. And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go fórth, šhäll go fotth. And in the

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast : and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment; I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread : even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses : for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you: no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this self-same day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt; therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even. Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses : for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whither he be a stranger, or born in the land. Ye shall eat nothing leavened: in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

Kol Ho-om. All the people of the land shall give this oblation for

And it shall be the princes part to give burnt-offerings, and meat-offerings, and drink-offerings, in the feasts, and in the new-moons, and in the Sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin-offering, and the meatoffering, and the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Kow Omar. Thus saith the Lord God, in the first month, in the

(The Portuguese conclude here, but the German Jews continue saying.) Kow Omar. Thus saith the Lord God, I will yet for this be

enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with mien like a flock. As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts ; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men : and they shall know that I'am the Lord.

PARSHATH HAU-CHODESH.

The Sabbath preceding the New Moon of the month of Nissan is called Parshath Hau-chodesh; two Laws are taken out ; in the first the Portion of the Week is reud, after which they say Half Kaddish ; and in the second, the following Portion is read to the Moftir. But if Rosh-Hodesh Nissan happens on the Sabbath, then three Laws are tuken out : in the first is read the Portion of the Week: in the second, is read the Portion which is usually said on Sabbath Rosh-Hodesh, after which they say Half Kaddish; and in the third, the following Portion is read to the Moftir.

Vauyomar Adonoi. And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in

the land of Egypt, saying, this month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you., Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, in the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the bouse of their fathers, a lamb fur an house. And if the houshold be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it, according to the number of the souls; every man, according to his eating, shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year : ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats. And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side-posts and on the upper door-post of the houses wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night: roast with fire; and unleavened bread, and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning: and that which remaineth of it until the morning, ye shall burn with fire. And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand : and ye shall eat it in haste; it is the Lord's pass-over.
