CHAP. XI. Jesus is betrayed by

Judas, and carried before the High
Priest. Matt. xxvii, John xviii.

WHILE Jesus was in the garden with His disciples, Judas “having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and weapons.

Jesus therefore knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus saith unto them, I am He.” When they heard this, they went backward, and fell to the ground. Afterwards the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus and bound Him, and carried Him before the high priest and the Jewish council. He was there accused, examined, and declared to be "guilty of death” as a blasphemer, “because He made Himself the Son of God.” But Judas when he saw that He was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed. and wentand hanged himself.

CHAP. XII. Jesus is brought
