h the King of

Sodom went out to meet Abram (after his Return from the Slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the Kings that were with him) at the Valley of Shaveh, which is the King's Dale.

19 And he BLESSED him, and faid, Bleffed be Abram of the MOST HIGH GOD, Poffeffor of Heaven and Earth:

20 And bleffed be the MOST HIGH GOD, which hath delivered thine Enemies into thy Hand. And he gave him Tithes of all.

Heb. vii. For this MELCH IS FDEK King of Salem, PRIEST of the MOST HIGH GOD, who met Abraham

returning from the Slaughter of the Kings, and bleffed him:

2 To whom alfo Abraham gave a tenth Part of all: firft being by Interpretation KING of RIGHTEOUSNESS, and after that alfo, KING of SALEM,

which is KING OF PEACE;

3 Without Father, without Mother, without Defcent, having neither BEGINNING of Days, nor END of Life;

but made like unto the Son of God,

abideth a PRIEST continually.

4 Now confider how great this Man was, unto whom even the Patriarch Abraham gave the Tenth of the Spoils.

s And verily they that are of the Sons of Levi, who receive the Office of the Priesthood, have a Commandment to take Tithes of the People according to the Law, that is, of their Brethren, though they come out of the Loyns of Abraham:

6 But he whofe DESCENT is not counted from them, received Tithes of Abraham, and bleffed him that had the Promises.

21 And the King of Sodom faid unto Abram, Give me the Perfons, and take the Goods to thy felf.

22 And Abram faid to the King of Sodom, I have lift up mine Hand unto the LORD, the MOST HIGH GOD, the Poffeffor of Heaven and Earth,

23 That I will not take from a Thread even to a Shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, left thou fhouldft fay, I have made Abram rich:

24 Save only that which the young Men have eaten, and the Portion of the Men which went with me, Aner, Efl col, and Mamre; let them take their Portion.

GOD encourageth Abram. 2 Abram complaineth for want
of an Heir.
4 GOD promifeth him a Son, and a multiply-

1 Rom. iv. 3 What faith the Scripture? Abraham BELIEVED GOD, and

it was counted unto him for RIGHTEOUSNESS

13 For the PROMISE that he fhould be the HEIR of the World, was not

to Abraham, or to his Seed through the Law, but through the RIGHTEOUSNESS of FAITH.

14 For if they which are of the Law be HEIRS, FAITH is made void, and the PROMISE made of none Effect.

15 Because the Law worketh Wrath: for where no Law is, there is no Tranfgreffion.

16 Therefore it is of FAITH, that the PROMISE might be fure to all it might be by GRACE; to the END the Seed, not to that only which is of the FAITH of ABRAham, who is of the Law, but to that allo which is the FATHER of us all,

17 (As it is written, I have made before him whom he BELIEVED, even thee a FATHER of many Nations) GOD who QUICKNETH the DEAD, and calleth thofe Things which BE NOT, as though THEY WERE.

21 And being fully PERSWADED, that what he had PROMISED, he was ABLE alfo to perform.

22 And therefore it was IMPUTED to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

23 Now it was not WRITTEN for his SAKE ALONE, that it was imputed to him;

24 But for us ALSO, to whom it fhall be IMPUTED, if we BELIEVE on him that RAISED UP JESUS Our LORD from the Dead,

25 Who was DELIVERED for our OFFENCES, and was RAISED again for Our JUSTIFICATION.

Gal. iii. 6 Even as Abraham BELIEVED GOD, and it was accounted to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

7 Know ye therefore, that they which are of FAITH, the fame are the CHILDREN of Abraham.

20 He STAGGERED not at the PROMISE of GOD through UNBELIEF; but was STRONG in FAITH, giving GLORY to God.

8 And the Scripture foreseeing that God would juftify the HEATHEN through FAITH, preached before the GOSPEL unto Abraham, saying, In thee fhall all NATIONS be BLESSED.

9 So then they which be of FAITH, are BLESSED with faithful Araham. 13 CHRIST hath redeemed us from the Curfe of the Law, being made a Curfe for us for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a Tree:

* And he said unto A13 bram, Know of a Surety that thy Seed shall be a Stranger in a Land that is not theirs, and fhall ferve them, and they fhall afflict them FOUR HUNDRED Years.

14 That the BLESSING of Abraham might come on the GENTILES through JESUS CHRIST; that we might receive the PROMISE of the SPIRIT through FAITH.

John viii, 56 Abraham REJOYCED to see my Day, and he saw IT, and was glad.

57 Then faid the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty Years old, and haft thou feen Abraham?

18 In that fame Day the LORD made a Covenant with Abram, faying, Unto thy Seed have I given this Land, from the River of Egypt, unto the great River, the River Euphrates :

20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
