3 The great TEMPTATIONS which thine Eyes have feen, the SIGNS and thofe great MIRACLES:

4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an Heart to perceive, and Eyes to fee, and Ears to hear, unto this Day.

5 And I have led you FORTY Years in the Wilderness: your CLOATHS are not waxen old upon you, and thy SHOE is not waxen old upon thy Foot.

6 Ye have not eaten Bread, neither have ye drunk Wine, nor Strong drink that ye might know that I am the LORD your GOD.

7 And when ye came unto this Place, Sihon the King of Hefhbon, and Og the King of Bafhan, came out against us unto Battle, and we fmote them.

8 And we took their Land, and gave it for an Inheri tance unto the Rheubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the Half-tribe of Manaffeh.

9 KEEP therefore the WORDS of this COVENANT and do them, that ye may PROSPER in all that ye DO.

10 Ye ftand this Day all of you before the LORD your GOD; your Captains of your Tribes, your Elders, and your Officers, with all the Men of Ifrael,

11 Your Little ones, your Wives, and thy Stranger that is in thy Camp, from the Hewer of thy Wood, unto the Drawer of thy Water.

12 That thou fhouldft enter into COVENANT with the LORD thy GOD, and into his OATH, which the LORD thy GOD maketh with thee this Day:

13 That he may establish thee To-day for a People unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a GOD, as he hath faid unto thee, and as he hath fworn unto thy Fathers, to Abraham, to Ifaac, and to Jacob.

14 Neither with you only do I make this Covenant and this Oath;

15 But with him that ftandeth here with us this Day before the LORD our GoD, and alfo with him that is not here with us this Day:

16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the Land of Egypt, and how we came through the Nations which ye paffed by.

17 And ye have feen their ABOMINATIONS and their IDOLS, Wood and Stone, Silver and Gold, which were among them)

18 LEST

18 Left there fhould be among you MAN or WoMAN, or Family, or Tribe, whofe HEART TURNETH away this Day from the LORD our God, to go and ferve the Gods of thefe Nations; left there should be among you a ROOT that beareth GALL and WORMWOOD.

↑ Heb. xii. Is Looking diligently, LEST any Man FAIL of the GRACE of

GOD; left any ROOT of BITTERNESS fpringing up, TROUBLE YOU, and thereby many be DEFILED.

Heb. iii. 8 HARDEN not your HEARTS, as in the Provocation, in the Day of Temptation in the Wilderness.

9 When your Fathers TEMPTED me, ty Years. PROVED me, and SAW MY WORKS for

10 Wherefore I was GRIEVED with that Generation, and faid, They do alway ERR in their HEART; and they have not known my Ways.

IT SO I SWARE in my Wrath, They fhall not ENTER into my REST. 12 TAKE HEED, Brethren, left there be in any of you an EVIT HEART OF UNBELIEF, in DEPARTING from the LIVING GOD.

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called, To-day; LEST any of you be HARDNED through the DECEITFULNESS of SIN.

19 And it come to pafs when he heareth the Words of this Curfe, that he BLESS himself in his Heart, Taying, I fhall have PEACE, though I WALK in the IMAGINATION of mine Heart, to add Drunkenness to Thirft.

20 The LORD will not SPARE him, but then the ANGER of the LORD, and his Jealoufy fhall fmoke against that Man, and all the CURSES that are written in this Book fhall lie upon him, and the LORD fhall BLOT out his Name from under Hea

yen.

21 And the LORD fhall SEPARATE him unto EVIL, out of all the Tribes of If

rael, according to all the Curfes of the Covenant, that are written in this Book of the Law:

22 So that the Generation to come of your Children that

SI And fhall Cur him afunder, and APPOINT him his PORTION with the

HYPOCRITES: there fhall be wEEPING

and GNASHING of TEETH.

Ezek. xiv. 7 For every one of the Houfe of Ifrael, or of the Stranger that fojourneth in Ifrael, which feparateth himself from me, and fetteth up his IDOLS in his HEART, and putteth the Stumbling-block of his eth to a Prophet to enquire of him INIQUITY before his Face, and comconcerning me; I the LORD will anfwer him by myself.

8 And I will fet my Face against that Man, and will make him a Sign and a Proverb, and I will cut him OFF from the midst of my People,

and ye thall know that I am the

LORD.

fhall rise up after you, and the Stranger that fhall come from a far Land, fhall fay, when they fee the Plagues of that Land, and the Sickneffes which the LORD hath laid upon it;

in the Defert, and fhall not fee when parched Places in the Wilderness, in a falt Land, and not inhabited.

Good cometh, but shall inhabit the

7 Blessed is the Man that trufteth in the LORD, and whofe Hope the LORD is.

23 And that the whole Land thereof is Brimstone, and Salt, and Burning, that it is not fown, nor beareth, nor any Grafs groweth therein, like the Overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his Anger, and in his Wrath:

24 Even all Nations fhall fay, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this Land? what meaneth the Heat of this great Anger?

25 Then Men fhall fay, Because they have forfaken the Covenant of the LORD GOD of their Fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the Land of Egypt.

26 For they went and ferved other Gods, and worshipped them, Gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them.

27 And the Anger of the LORD was kindled against this Land, to bring upon it all the Curfes that are written in this Book.

28 And the LORD rooted them out of their Land in Anger, and in Wrath, and in great Indignation, and caft them into another Land, as it is this Day.

Ecclef. xii. 14 GOD fhall bring every WORK into JUDGMENT, with every SECRET THING, whether it be

GOOD, or whether it be EVIL.

34 For who hath KNOWN the MIND of the LORD, or who hath been his COUNSELLER?

1 Cor. ii. 5 That your Faith fhould not ftand in the Wisdom of Men, but in the Power of GOD.

6 Howbeit we speak Wisdom among them that are perfect yet not the Wisdom of this World, nor of the Princes of this World, that come to nought.

7 But we fpeak the Wisdom of GOD in a MYSTERY, even the HIDDEN WISDOM which GOD ORDAINED before the World unto our GLORY.

1 Cor. i, 20 Where is the Wife? where is the Scribe? where is the Difputer of this World? hath not GOD MADE FOOLISH the WISDOM of this WORLD? Col. ii. 3 IN CHRIST are HID all the TREASURES of WISDOM and KNOW

8 Beware left any Man fpoil you through PHILOSOPHY and VAIN DECEIT, after the Tradition of Men, after the Rudiments of the World, and not after CHRIST :

9 For IN HIM DWELLETH all the FULNESS of the GODHEAD bodily.

CHAP. XXX.

1 Great Mercies promised to the Penitent.

ND it fhall come to pass when all these Things are come upon thee, the Bleffing and the Curfe which I have fet before thee, and thou fhalt call them to mind among all the Nations whither the LORD thy GOD hath driven thee,

2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy GOD, and shalt obey his Voice, according to all that I command thee this Day, thou and thy Children, with all thine Heart, and with all thy Soul:

3 That then the LORD thy GOD will turn thy Captivity, and have Compaffion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the Nations whither the LORD thy God hath fcattered thee.

4" If any of thine be DRIVEN out unto the outmoft Parts of Heaven, from thence will the LORD thy GOD GATHER thee, and from thence will he fetch thee.

5. And the LORD thy GOD will bring thee into the Land which thy Fathers poffefied, and thou fhalt poffefs it: and he will do thee Good, and

19 And i will rejoyce in Jerufalem, and joy in my People, and the Voice of weeping fhall be no more heard in her, nor the Voice of crying. 21 And they hall build Houfes, and inhabit them; and they shali plant Vineyards, and cat the Fruit of them.

22 They fhall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and . another eat for as the Days of a Tree, are the Days of my People, and mine Ele& fhall long enjoy the Work of their Hands.

23 They fhall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for Trouble for they are the SEED of the BLESSED of the LORD, and their Offspring with them.

6 w And the LORD thy GOD will CIRCUMCISE THINE HEART, and the Heart of thy Seed, to LOVE the LORD thy GOD with all thine HEART, and with all thy SOUL, that thou mayeft

LIVE.

7 And the LORD thy GOD will put all thefe Curfes upon thine Enemies, and on them that hate thee, which perfecuted thee.

8 And thou fhalt return and obey the Voice of the LORD, and do all his Commandments which I command thee this Day.

9 And the LORD thy GOD will make thee plenteous in every Work of thine Hand, in the Fruit of thy Body, and in the Fruit of thy Cattle, and in the Fruit of thy Land, for good for the LORD will again rejoyce over thee for good, as he rejoyced over thy Fathers :

10 If thou fhalt hearken unto the Voice of the LORD

Jer. xxxi. 31 Behold, the Days come, faith the LORD, that I will make a NEW COVENANT with the Houfe of Ifrael, and with the House of Judah:

that I made with their Fathers in the 32 Not according to the Covenant Day that I took them by the Hand, to bring them out of the Land of Egypt, (which my Covenant they brake, although I was an Husband unto them, faith the LORD:)

that I will make with the House of Ifrael, after thofe Days, faith the LORD, I will put MY LAW in their INWARD PARTS, and WRITE it in their HEARTS, and will be their GOD, and they fhall be my PEOPLE.

33 But this fhall be the Covenant

34 And they fhall teach no more every Man his Neighbour, and every Man his Brother, faying, Know ye the LORD: for they fhall all KNOW ME, from the leaft of them unto the greatest of them, faith the LORD:

for I will FORGIVE their INIQUITY, and I will REMEMBER their SIN NO MORE

Ezek. xi. 19 I will give them ONE within you; and I will take the STOHEART, and I will put a NEW SPIRIT NY HEART Out of their Flesh, and will give them an Heart of Flesh :

20 That they may WALK in my STATUTES, and keep mine Ordinances, and do them and they fhall be my PEOPLE, and I will be their God.

Heb. viii, 6 CHRIST hath obtained a more EXCELLENT MINISTRY, by how much also he is the MEDIATOR of a BETTER COVENANT, which
