I was also upright before him, &c. With the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.-2 Sam. xxii. 24. 26. Ps. xviii. 23.

Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee.1 Kings iii. 6.

Thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men, &c. Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord your God.-1 Kings viii. 39. 61. Ps. xliv. 21.

If thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness to do according to all, &c. Then I will establish, &c.-1 Kings ix. 4, 5.

It came to pass that when Solomon was old, &c. his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David, &c. he went not fully after the Lord, &c.—1 Kings xi.

Asa did that which was right, &c. but the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the Lord all his days. 1 Kings xv. 11. 14.

How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him.-1 Kings xviii. 21.

Thy servant will not offer, &c. to any other gods but the Lord. In this thing the Lord pardon thy servant. When my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship, &c. and I bow myself, &c.-2 Kings v. 17, 18.

Many kings of Israel did that

which was right, &c. but yet did not take away the high places.-2 Kings xiv. xv.

Josiah turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses, &c.-2 Kings xxiii. 25. xviii. 3-6.

Set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God.-1 Chron. xxii. 19. 2 Chron. xi. 16. xv. 12. 15.

Know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart, and a willing mind; for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth, &c.-1 Chron. xxviii. 9.

I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things, &c.-1 Chron. xxix. 17. Prov. xvii. 3. Rom. viii. 27.

The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of (or strongly to hold with) them whose heart is perfect toward him.2 Chron. xvi. 9.

Amaziah did that which was right in the sight of the Lord: but not with a perfect heart.-2 Chron. xxv. 1, 2.

Hezekiah, &c. wrought that which was good and right, &c. he did it with all his heart, and prospered.--2 Chron. xxxi. 20, 21.

Job was a perfect and upright man, and one that feared God, &c.—Job i. 1. 8.

Still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, &c.-Job ii. 3.

Behold God will not cast away a perfect man.-Job viii. 20.

My foot hath held his steps; his way have I kept, and not declined, &c.-Job xxiii. 11.

Like sheep they are laid in the grave, &c. and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Ps. xlix. 14.

Unto the upright there shall arise a light in the darkness.-Ps. cxii. 4. Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments: I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, &c. My zeal hath consumed me, &c.—Ps. cxix. 6, 7. 139.

Do good, O Lord, unto, &c. them that are upright in their hearts: as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity.-Ps. cxxv. 4, 5.

O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me: thou knowest my downsitting and uprising: thou understandest my thoughts afar off: thou compassest my path, and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways: for there is not a word in my tongue, but lo! O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.-Ps. cxxxix. Ezek. xi. 5.

Behold thou desirest truth in the 1-4. inward parts.-Ps. li. 6.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.-Ps. lxiii. 8. cxix. 60.

All the upright in heart shall glory. -Ps. lxiv. 10. xcvii. 11.

I will pay thee my vows which my lips have uttered, &c. when I was in trouble. Ps. lxvi. 13, 14. cxvi.

The Lord God will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. -Ps. lxxxiv. 11.

They say, the Lord shall not see, &c. He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? &c. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man.-Ps. xciv. 7-9. 11. 15.

It is a people that do err in their hearts, &c.-Ps. xcv. 10.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. -Ps. xcvii. 11.

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way, &c. I will walk within

The upright shall dwell in thy presence.-Ps. cxl. 13.

If thou seekest wisdom as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures, then shalt thou understand, &c. The Lord is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.-Prov. ii. 4-7.

My son, &c. let thine heart keep my commandments. Prov. iii. I. xxiii. 26.

Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life.— Prov. iv. 23.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.-Prov. v. 21.

He that walketh uprightly, walketh surely, &c.—Prov. x. 9.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them &c. the righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way, &c. the righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, &c. Such as are upright in the way, are his delight.Prov. xi. 3. 5, 6. 20.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord.-Prov. xiv. 2.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good, &c. The prayer of the upright is his delight, &c. A man of understanding walketh uprightly.-Prov.

xv. 3. 8. 21.

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes: but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Prov. xvi. 2.

The just man walketh in his integrity.-Prov. xx. 7.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.-Prov. xxi. 2.

My son, give me thine heart.Prov. xxiii. 26. Joel ii. 12, 13.

If thou sayest, Behold, we know it not: doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it?-Prov. xxiv. 12.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings.-Prov. xxviii. 20. The upright love thee (or they love thee uprightly).-Cant. i. 4.

The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.-Isa. xxvi. 7.

Hezekiah prayed, &c. Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, &c.-Isa, xxxviii. 2, 3.

Hearken unto me, &c. the people in whose heart is my law: fear ye not.--Isa. li. 7.

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? &c. to bow down his head as a bullrush, &c. Is not this the fast that I have chosen, to loose the bands of wickedness?-Isa. lviii. 5, 6.

From the prophet unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely: for they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, &e-Jer. viii. 10, 11.

O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously; that triest the reins and the heart.-Jer. xi. 20.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, and try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Jer. xvii. 9, 10. xxxii. 19. Rom. viii. 27.

Am I a God at hand, &c. and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth?-Jer. xxiii. 23, 24. Heb. iv. 12, 13. Job xxxiv. 22.

Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully (or negligently).-Jer. xlviii. 10.

I' know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.Ezek. xi. 5.

Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, &c.— Dan. i. 8.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered, and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter, &c. our God whom we serve is able to deliver us, &c. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image, &c.-Dan. iii. 16—18.

Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?-Micah ii. 7. Behold, his soul which is lifted up, is not upright in him.-Hab. ii. 4.

When ye fasted and mourned, &c. did ye at all fast uuto me, even unto me?-Zech. vii. 5-7.

Ye brought that which was torn : and the lame, and the sick, &c. cursed be the deceiver that, &c. sacrificeth to the Lord a corrupt thing, &c.—Mal. i. 13, 14.

Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.Matt. v. 28.

When thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth, &c. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other: ye cannot serve God and mammon.-Matt. vi. 3. 24.

Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, &c.

Not every one that saith, Lord! Lord! is nothing hid, that shall not be shall enter into the kingdom, &c. known.-Luke xii. 1, 2. Matt. vii. 14. 21.

Jesus said, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.Matt. xvi. 24, 25.

The wise virgins took oil in their vessels, with their lamps, &c. The Lord said unto him, who had improved his talents, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy, &c.-Matt. xxv. 3, 4. 20, 21.

Beware ye of hypocrisy, for there

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple: and whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple, &c. Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all he hath, he cannot be my disciple.-Luke xiv. 26, 27.33.

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, &c. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed amongst men, is abomination in the sight of God.-Luke xvi. 13. 15.

Jesus saw Nathanael, &c. and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.-John i. 47.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.-John iv. 24.

Among the chief rulers also many believed on him: but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. -John xii. 42, 43,

The Eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.-Acts viii. 36, 37.

Barnabas exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.-Acts xi. 22, 23.

None of these things move me: neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, &c.-Acts xx. 24.

I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: but shewed, &c.— Acts xxvi. 19.

He is not a Jew which is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh but

he is a Jew which is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter: whose praise is not of men, but of God. Rom. ii. 28, 29.

Ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.-Rom. vi. 17.

That which I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I, &c. I consent unto the law, &c. with the mind I serve the Lord, &c.-Rom. vii. 15, 16. 25.

Let love be without dissimulation: abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good, &c. Not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.-Rom. xii. 9.11. Amos v. 15. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.-1 Cor. iv. 20.

Let us keep the feast, &c. with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.-1 Cor. v. 8.

Ye are bought with a price: be not ye the servants of men, &c. let every man wherein he is called, therein abide with God, &c. They that have wives be as though they had none, &c. that you may attend upon the Lord without distraction.-1 Cor. vii. 23, 24. 29, 30. 35, &c.

So run, that ye may obtain.-1 Cor. ix. 24. Heb. xii. 1.

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.-1 Cor. xi. 1.

Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, &c. and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.-1 Cor.

If there be first a willing mind, it is accepted, according to that a man hath, and not, &c.-2 Cor. viii. 12.

Every man, according as he purposeth in heart, &c. God loveth a cheerful giver.-2 Cor. ix. 7.

Be perfect, &c.-2 Cor. xiii. 11.

When it pleased God, &c. to reveal his Son in me, &c. immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood, &c. but I went, &c.-Gal. i. 15-17.

But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.-Gal. iv. 18.

Speaking the truth (or being sincere) in love, may grow up into him. -Eph. iv. 15.

Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children, &c. We are members of his body, &c. for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh: this is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the Church.Eph. v. 1. 30-32.

Servants, be obedient, &c. in singleness of your heart as unto Christ; not with eyeservice as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; with good will doing service as to the Lord, and not to men.-Eph. vi. 5—7. Col. iii. 22, 23.

This I pray, &c. that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.-Phil. i. 9, 10.
