THE EFFECT OF STIMULATING CELL NUTRITION.

In many conditions of a chronic character improvement may be expected to follow the use of agents calculated to influence nutrition of the individual cells. Thus, if the cells be stimulated to better assimilation and elimination, diseased states due to interference with these normal functions of the cellular constituents of the vital organs must of necessity undergo a change, for the underlying and continuing cause is being altered. The drugs usually employed for this purpose are those termed the alteratives, an efficient representative which class is IODIA (Battle).

of

IODIA is a combination of iodide of potash with the active principles of the green roots of stillingia, helonias, saxifraga and menispermum. It has been found in severe clinical tests to exert an influence on the vital functions, the explanation of its favorable effect being sought for in the stimulating action of its several constituents on the normal processes of the body's cells. In chronic gout and rheumatism, glandular diseases and chronic. affections of the skin IODIA will offer evidence of its therapeutic value.

GONOSAN

In Specific and Non-Specific. Cystitis and Urethritis GONOSAN has proven highly effective in limiting the extent of the inflammation, in controlling bacillary development, and in relieving the painful symptoms attendant upon such inflammations. In addition to the above definite therapeutic powers, it should be remembered that GONOSAN'S value is further emphasized by its comparative freedom from those qualities-gastric renal irritation-usually found in other balsamics.

GONOSAN is the Logical Coadjutor of Injections. It is free from Deleterious Effects.

SULPHO-LYTHIN

(Non-Effervescent.)

A True Hepatic Stimulant, Intestinal, Antiseptic, Antizymotic, and Uric Acid Eliminant.

Sulpho-Lythin is granular, non-effervescent, mildly alkaline in reaction, with a saline but not unpleasant taste, and dissolves in moderately cold water. In the stomach it is decomposed by the acid of the gastric juice, and sulphur, in readily soluble form, is liberated. The sulphur thus liberated is dissolved in the alkaline secretion of the intestines and is taken up and conveyed to the portal circulation.

Sulpho-Lythin is distinctly cholagogue in its action, and exerts an antiseptic action in the intestines. Its laxative tendency, together with the presence of bile. the result of its action on the liver, makes it an active eliminant of effete matter from the intestinal tract, as free catharsis results when the liver responds to its stimulus. A peculiar feature of its action is that it is easy and without pain or griping and there is no evidence of depletion, so often the result of saline action.

This product, owing to its definite cholagogue action and its antizymotic and antiseptic action in the intestines is a valuable remedy for auto-toxemia and acid toxemia or acidosis, acting by counteracting the cause of such conditions. This should appeal as a more rational remedy than the administration of alkalies.

An Efficient Antiseptic. Eucalyptus globulus should always be remembered when an antiseptic is needed. This is one of the most reliable, and a single trial will make a convert of the most skeptical. Besides its antiseptic qualities it is also an admirable disinfectant. Procure some and make a trial.

A Good Tonic. Almost every case of acute illness needs some kind of tonic medication during convalescence. Among the many that may be used there is none that is more dependable than Gray's Glycerine Tonic. Its use has proved its value in many cases.

Sudden Loss of the Voice or Sudden Hoarseness. Dissolve a piece of borax, about the size of a pea. This will give almost instantaneous relief. If those who sing or speak in public will take the same amount ten minutes or so before they are to use their voice they will find that it produces an abundant supply of saliva, which will moisten the month. and throat and thus prevent hoarseness.
