Judah,” (this means David must certainly be ju existence; but still as the least in Judah, on account of descending by Ruth from Moab, &c.) “ yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel,” (namely, thee I have chosen for to produce of thy seed the Messiah,) “ 'whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting,” (namely, before the creation of the world I had already appointed thy seed whereout to choose the Messiah.) So also says David, Psalm, Ixxii. 17. " His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun,” &c. This is only meant upon the Messiah the son of David who is to come at the end of days, and no other. Thus says Micah, ii. 12. " I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel;" (namely, the remnant from Assyria,) “ I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.” “ The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

It is an undeniable fact, that this prophecy is alluding to the end of days, when our king will be before us (namely, the Messiah,) at the time of our redemption, and God at the head: consequently, no one can substantiate that the prophecy has been fulfilled when the children of Israel came from Babylon, because at that time they had no king, but were under the subjection of Persia; and after that they were under the Grecian's; and, lastly, under the Roman's, under whose yoke they sigh up to the present day; but at the last, when the morning star

shall proclaim the approach of the day, “ When the LORD will avenge himself on Edom, on account of the great blood-shed of Judah which so innocently has been spilled in their lands”as has been explained in the above chapter, and which will be previous to the arrival of the Messiah, on that great and glorious day, whereof all the Prophets speak.

Isaiah, xxxiv. 1. Jeremiah, xxx. 4 & 5. 66 And these are the words that the Lord spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. For

thus saith the LORD ; We have heard a voice of i trembling, of fear, and not of peace,” &c. 7-9

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved, out of it. For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck,” (this is the yoke of Edom from off Jacob,)“ and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him. But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them,” &c. This is he who shall be our leader in the future. Thus

says Ezekiel, xxxviii. '18-20. of the destruction of Gog and Magog, " And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the LORD God, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; so that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the Yield, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, &c—and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.”

Thus says Joel, iii. 12—14. Amos, ix. 8. Zachariah, xi. 2-4, &c. Malachi, ijj. 17. “ And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth bim," &c. 19, &c. So in Daniel, xii. 1. " And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince that standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation evento that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book,” &c,

I have now, my dear readers, in reason and after a due consideration and study, laid every thing before you, that you may be convinced'; and enabled you to prove to those who may yet disbelieve, with most undeniable evidence, the truth of every assertion; for before the anticipated arrival of the Messiah, we expect the exalted day, on which all the inhabitants of the earth shall declare and pray to one only God; and then will be fulfilled all that has been prophecied by the Lord through his Prophets, and in particular that through Isaiah, xxv. 7 & 8. “ And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it,” &c.

Consequently, all what the Prophets have said about the coming of the Messiah shall be fulfilled
