FLITTINGS OF FANCY.183

BY

ROBERT SULIVAN, ESQ.

"Black spirits and white,
Red spirits and grey;

Mingle, mingle, mingle,

You that mingle may."

MACBETH.

IN TWO VOLUMES.

VOL. I.

LONDON:

HENRY COLBURN, PUBLISHER,

13, GREAT MARLBOROUGH STREET.

1837.

LONDON:

F. SHOBERL, JUN., LEICESTER STREET, LEICESTER SQUARE.

ADVERTISEMENT.

The tales, &c., which compose these volumes have, with a few exceptions, been published singly, at various dates, and in various ways. They are now collected, partly in consequence of the favours bestowed upon such of them as chanced to fall into the hands of reviewers, and partly because certain compilers of miscellanies have, from time to time, paid some little piece the compliment of a reprint. The Author intrudes this word of explanation in the hope that it may plead his excuse for the incongruous character of Fancies which were the fitful occupation of an idle life, and certainly never intended to Flit in company.
