When the liquids, q, r, are at the end of a syllable after another consonant, they have equally in the pronunciation the letter r, as մուկն ( մուկն ) 100g. աստղ (աստղ) asdgh. դուստր (դուստր) to08der.

But not when they precede the consonant, as q, coond. wq, aghd. 4wpq, gark.

Likewise when the consonants are different, as in, tooght. uppg, soorpk. Sang, hoghmk.

In the beginning of many words, between two consonants the letter is understood in the oblique cases instead of another vowel of the nominative case, as ձուկն, 2000. ձկան (ձկան) tugan. միշտ, mishd . մշտակայ (մշտակայ) mishdaga.

WORD

A word is an articulate sound expressive of our ideas.

Words in the Armenian language consist of eight parts of speech: Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Participles, Prepositions, Adverbs, Conjunctions, Interjections.

NOUN

A noun signifies some substance, or quality, as up, man. 4r4br, earth. 1o, light. uppwjmpir, kingdom. qt, soul, spirit. what, person. pumpi, nature. Sping, mind, thought. purt, good. qbqbybų, handsome. engr, sweet. 8, great.

In nouns six peculiarities are to be considered: Gender, Form, Species or Kind, Number, Case, Declension.

In the Armenian language the genders are distinguished by their natural significations, as

MASCULINE

Ադամ, Adam. Մովսէս, Moses. Պետրոս, Peter. Iphanp, Gregory. Tupur, Vardan, etc. Հայր, father. եղբայը, brother. ուստր, 80, a male-child. p, a husband, spouse. " up, a father-in-law. pp, uncle, a mother's

chicken. L, bird, fowl. "¿wp, sheep. wp. 2wn, cattle. qui, pigeon, dove. &p, horse. 2, dog, bitch. 7, charmer. Supqupt, prophet, or prophetess, etc.

NEUTER

2, water, oq, air. Snq, earth. Suppu, body. ppg, heaven. ", light. sun, tree. ång, hand. ning, foot. snap, soul, spirit. pung, mind. iniu, house. шnn, chair · 4burg, life. Sus, death. Sulphp nitpir, patience. ppppi, injustice, etc.

The genders are distinguished also in this manner: Use Supquipt, prophet, a male prophet. 4 Supqupt, prophetess, a female prophet. wp supq, man, male. 4f Supq, woman. Sy wпpid, lioness, female lion, a she-lion. шpi шquip, male pigeon. 244, qш, girl, a female child, etc.
