to take into consideration various ALTERATIONS and EMENDATIONS of the BYE-LAWS.

Present-22 Fellows.

The following alterations and emendations of the ByeLaws were severally read to the meeting by the Honorary Secretary, William Ogle, M.D., and after short discussions on several of them a Ballot was taken, and they were declared by the President to have been passed unanimously.

"Chapter I, Section IV, line 4, that after 'Doctors and Bachelors of Medicine,' the words 'and Masters and Bachelors of Surgery,' and after Universities of Great Britain and Ireland,' the words or of the Colonies' be inserted.

Chapter I, Section IV, line 6, that in place of the words. 'Licentiates of the Apothecaries of London and Dublin,' be inserted, 'Licentiates of the Society of Apothecaries of London and of the Apothecaries' Hall of Ireland.'

"Chapter II, Section I, line 3, that the words 'to one of the Secretaries' be transferred to line 4, after themselves.'

Chapter II, Section I, line 10, to omit the word 'shall.'

Chapter II, Section I, line 12, to alter 'to be sufficient' to 'shall be sufficient.'

"Chapter II, Section 1, line 13, to transfer that' to line 14. after' works.'

Chapter II, Section I, line 16, to take out Section II,' making the first sentence of that section a part of Section I, and commencing Section II, at line 20 of Chapter II, 'a list shall be sent, &c.'

"Chapter II, Section VI, to read as follows:-'Such persons as may be elected Fellows of the Society, and do not live within seven miles of the General Post Office, shall have transmitted to them by one of the Secretaries, a Notice according to the Form No. II of the Appendix, together with an obligation according to the Form No. III of the Appendix, and shall be considered Fellows on paying the admission Fee, and returning the obligation duly signed on or before the fourth ordinary Meeting of the Society after their election, or within such further time as shall be granted by the Council on special application to them for that purpose; otherwise their election shall be void.'

"Chapter II, Section VII, line 3, to alter 'in the Journal Book,' to the words 'in a Book to be kept for that purpose.'

Chapter II, Section VII, line 5, to transpose the words 'of the decision,' to before the words 'shall be taken.'

"Chapter III, Section III, line 1, to take out the word 'Resident.'

Chapter IV, Section II, line 3, to take out the words, 'and shall, after having been suspended in the Society's room for at least fourteen days, be submitted to the consideration of the Annual General or a Special General Meeting of the Society, and being put,' and to replace them by the following: 'and a copy of such minute forthwith sent to the Fellow and a Special Meeting of the Council summoned thereupon, which the Fellow, whose conduct is in question, shall be invited to attend. If, after investigation, the Council shall still consider the removal of such Fellow advisable, they shall frame a resolution to that effect, which shall be suspended in the Society's room for at least fourteen days, and be submitted to a Special General Meeting of the Society. On the resolution being put.'

Chapter V, Section III, line 3, to alter one month' to 'three months.'

"Chapter V, Section III, line 4, to insert the word 'such' in place of' annual.'

Chapter V, Section V, line 4, after the word 'contribution,' to add " and shall be entitled to receive the Proceedings of the Society, and to consult books and periodicals in the Reading Room.'

"Chapter VI, Section I, line 4, to take out the words 'one of' the Secretaries.

"Chapter VI, Section IV, lines 4, 5, 6, to read the three lines. as follows: 'for the use of the Fellows, and sent to each Fellow resident in the United Kingdom, with the Circular Summons, seven days previously to the day of Election.'

"Chapter VIII, Section II, lines 6-9, and Section III, lines 1, 2, and 5, to alter the sentences from the plural into the singular number (in accordance with the construction of the previous clause) as follows: and provided the choice of a person to fill up any such vacancy shall be confirmed by the Council at their next meeting, such person shall be declared duly appointed Trustee to the Society accordingly.'

"Chapter XIII, Section V, lines 2 and 3, to take out the words 'with the consent of the Authors.'

66 Chapter XIII, Section VII, line 11, for the words ' and their appointment,' to read and the appointment of all except Scientific Committees.'

"Chapter XIV, heading to read ' Of the Society's Transactions and Proceedings.'

66 Chapter XIV, Section IV, lines 3 and 4, to read with twenty-five copies of every paper presented by them,' leaving out the words 'private,' 'which may be,' and 'to the Society.'

"Chapter XIV, Section V, to be added as follows:- The proceedings of the Society, together with abstracts of the Papers read at its meetings, shall be published from time to time as the Council shall direct, and a copy of such Proceedings shall be forwarded to every Fellow of the Society resident in the United Kingdom.'

Chapter XV, 'Of Scientific Committees' to be transferred from Chapter XXI.

"Chapters XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX, and XX, to become respectively Chaps. XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX, and XXI. Chapter XV (XVI), Section II, in place of the words 'Eight books shall be allowed to be in the possession of a Fellow at the same time,' the Clause to read as follows;- Every Fellow paying the annual contribution, or having compounded for the same, shall be allowed to borrow books from the Library, and to have eight volumes in his possession at the same time.'
