We pray to Thee not only for ourselves, | but also for our fathers and mothers, who take care of us and provide for us. Lord, make them not only kind to us, but thoughtful of Thee. Let them not work only for earthly bread, but lead them to seek the bread of life.| Make them to live together in peace and love; | but above all to be at peace with Thee. May those of them who come to Thy House of Prayer | be helped to fight the battle of life, and at last to be victors in the battle of death. Pity and pardon all fathers and mothers who break Thy Holy Day. Give them a better mind, | and turn them from evil to good.

Bless our teachers. May we love them for their works' sake, | and give good heed to all their instructions. Grant them needful grace | to teach us the path to heaven, | and help us to walk in it; | for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Evening Prayer.

GREAT God and kind Father! | Thou knowest that

we are weak and erring children; | but we come to Thee because Thou art full of mercy, and rich in grace. We want Thee to help us to keep in mind | what we

have heard to-day. We are apt to forget the lessons of truth, and to fall into sin. Help us to hide Thy Word in our hearts, | that we may not sin against Thee. Give us grace to hallow our thoughts, | to guide our words, | and to rule our actions.

We have not sought Thee this day | so diligently as we should. Make us sorry for this; | and help us to come to Jesus with child-like faith, | to wash all our sins away in His precious blood.

We bless Thee that we are not like heathen children, |

who are taught to worship idols. Thee, to Thy flock, poor idolaters. to teach them about Jesus. Hear our prayers also for our parents. Help them to be what pleases Thee. When they work for our daily food and clothing, | give them contentment with their lot: | and may Thy blessing with contentment make them happy. When death shall take us away, may we all go to heaven, | and be one family' above.

Hear us, O merciful Father, in this our prayer, | through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
