Blessed is the Man

15

5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now`mine eye seeth thee.

6. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

BLESS

BLESSED IS THE MAN

Job 42

LESSED is the man that walketh not SSED in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful:

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm I

O LORD, OUR LORD, HOW EXCELLENT

LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy

name in all the earth! who has set thy

glory above the heavens.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies; that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers; the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands: thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

Lord, Who Shall Abide

17

9 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

LORD, WHO SHALL ABIDE

LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?

who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

Psalm 15

2

THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD

HE heavens declare the glory of God: and

THE

the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun;

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to

run a race.

His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, convérting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple:

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes:

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring

for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

II Moreover, by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19

THE LORD HEAR THEE IN THE DAY OF

THE

TROUBLE

HE Lord hear thee in the day of trouble: the name of the God of Jacob defend

thee.

2. Send thee help from the sanctuary and strengthen thee out of Zion.
