To this I have also added an alphabetical Index of all the Parishes, Tythings, &c. where there are separate Collectors of the Land Tax, with References to the Folios in which they may be found; whereas, in the last Poll, merely the Hundreds and Liberties were so referred to: And Í likewise thought it a fit Appendix, briefly to shew the chief Points to be attended to at a County Election, so far at least as it is at all connected with the Office of Sheriff, which is also accompanied by all the Forms of the Oaths.-Upon the whole, from the general Knowledge I have had Opportunity of gaining of the County and it's Inhabitants, and, from the very great and unwearied Attention I have paid 10 the Subject during the Publication, I flatter myself it will be found as correct as in the Nature of Things it can be expected : If there be Errors, I trust they will be only of fuch a Nature as mifpelling Surnames, or leaving out Titles or Additions, which must be unavoidable, and I have no doubt will be excufed. I have corrected many of the former, from my own Knowledge and Memory, and added many of the latter, of whieh no Notice were taken in the original Poll.— I apprehend nothing need be said in Apology for the Price, which is the same as the last was fold at; and, when it be considered, that it is a Book not generally purchased, but that a mall and limited Number only are printed, I shall be found to have a very trifling Reward for a great Deal of Trouble; however, confidering it a Part of my Duty, I have chearfully and faithfully executed it.
