PREFATORY NOTE

This volume comprises the practice forms, i.e., forms used in litigation in an admiralty case, as distinguished from commercial maritime forms, such as bills of sale, ship mortgages, charter parties and bills of lading, which have been reserved for the third volume.

Acknowledgment is made to Harry D. Thirkield, Esq., of New York City for the inclusion of many forms drawn from his ample collection and thanks are due to other members of the bar for individual forms contributed. Seamen's libels and answers thereto have been revised by William J. Dean, Esq., of New York City.
