Lambert Pharmacal Co., 116 Olive St., St. Louis, Mo. MEDICAL DEPARTMENT OF THE Tulane University of Louisiana. (Formerly, 1847-1884, the University of Louisiana.) FACULTY: Sam'l Logan, M. D., Emeritus Prof. of Anatomy and Clinical Surgery. Lecturer on Diseases of the Eye and Ear. S. D. Kennedy, M. D. Demonstrator of Anatomy, Rudolph Matos, M. D. Assistant Demonstrator of Anatomy, A. McShane, M. D. The next annual session of this Department, now in the fifty-third year of its existence, will begin of Monday, October 18. 1886, and end on Saturday, March 26, 1887. The first four weeks of the term will be devoted exclusively to Clinical Medicine. Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology in the wards and amphitheatre of the Charity Hospital; to Practical Chemistry in the Chemical Laboratory; and to Practical Anatomy in the spacious and well-ventilated anatomical rooms of the University. The means for practical instruction are unsurpassed in the United States, and special attention is called to the superior opportunities presented for CLINICAL INSTRUCTION. The Professors of the Medical Department are given, by law, the use of the great Charity Hospital as a school of practical instruction, and medical students are admitted without payment of any hospital fees. The Charity Hospital contains 700 beds; the number of patients annually admitted varies from 7000 to 8000, and the number of visiting patients exceeds 10,000. Its advantages for practical study are unsurpassed by any similar institution in this country. The Medical, Surgical and Obstetrical Wards are visited daily by the respective Professors, and all Students are expected to attend, and to familiarize themselves, at the bedside of the patients, with the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of disease and injury. Regular lectures are also given daily, from 8.30 to 11 a. m., in the amphitheatre of the Hospital, either on Clinical Medicine or Clinical Surgery, or Pathological Anatomy; and this thorough course of practical clinical instruction is followed by didactic lectures in the three ample lecture rooms of the Medical Department. The administrators of the Charity Hospital elect, annually, by competitive examination, in March, fourteen Resident Students, who are given board and lodging free of charge. TERMS FOR ANNUAL SESSION: For tickets of all the Professors, $110; for ticket of practical anatomy, $10; Matriculation fee (paid once only), $5; Graduation Fee (paid once only) $30. Students who have attended and paid for two full courses of lectures, the last of which was in this institution, are entitled to attend thereafter without charge. Candidates for graduation are required to be twenty-one years of age, to have studied three years, to have attended two courses of lectures, and to pass a satisfactory examination. Graduates of other respectable_schools are admitted upon payment of the Matriculation and half Lecture Fees. They cannot, however, obtain the Diploma of the University without passing the regular examination and paying the usual Graduation Fee. As the practical advantages here afforded for a thorough acquaintance with all the branches of medicine and surgery are unsurpassed by those possessed by the best schools of New York and Philadelphia, the same fees are charged.
