88. 1L 4-118. IKE mist on the mountain, like ships on the sea, So swiftly the years of our pilgrimage flee! In the grave, with our fathers, how soon we shall lie! Dear children, to-day, to a Saviour fly. 2 How sweet are the flowers of April and May, But often the frost makes them wither away; Like flowers you may fade: are you ready to die? While yet there is time, to a Saviour fly. 3 When Samuel was young, he first knew the Lord, He slept in His smile, and rejoiced in His word; So most of God's children are early brought nigh: O! seek Him in youth-to a Saviour fly. 4 Do you ask me for pleasure? Then lean on His breast, For there the sin-laden and weary find rest; In the valley of death you will triumphing cry, "If this be called dying, 't is pleasant to die." HAVE you not heard of a beautiful stream, That flows through our Father's land? Its waters gleam bright in the heavenly light, And ripple o'er golden sand. CHORUS. O seek that beautiful stream! Its waters so free are flowing for thee, 2 With murmuring sound doth it wander along, Through fields of eternal green; Where songs of the blest, in their haven of rest, Float soft on the air serene. O seek, &c. 3. Its fountains are deep, and its waters are pure, And sweet to the weary soul; It flows from the throne of Jehovah alone; O come where its bright waves roll! O seek, &c. 4 This beautiful stream is the River of Life; It flows for all nations free; A balm for each wound in its waters is found: O, sinner, it flows for thee! O seek, &c. 5 O! will you not drink of the beautiful stream, And dwell on its peaceful shore ? The Spirit says, Come, all ye weary ones, home, And wander in sin no more. O seek, &c. REDEMPTION: REPENTANCE AND FAITH. 4-7s. YOD of mercy, God of love! 90. U Hear me from Thy throne above; Teach me how in truth to pray: Take my sinful heart away. 2 Oft I disobedient grow, 1 THOU that wouldst not have Who diedst Thyself, my soul to save 2 Show me the way to shun Thy dreadful wrath severe : 3 Thou art Thyself the Way; So shall I spend my life's short day 4 So shall I love my God, Because He first loved me, And praise Thee in Thy bright abode, COME, my soul, thy suit prepare: Jesus loves to answer prayer; 3 With my burden I begin : There Thy blood-bought right maintain, S. M. to Thine altar, Lord, No broken heart I bring; And wilt Thou graciously accept 3 That moment He expired, 1 And now to its severest claims S. M. CALL'D from above, I rise, And wash away my sin; 93. 94. The stream, to which my spirit flies, 2 It runs divinely clear; 1 A fountain deep and wide; 'Twas opened by the soldier's spear In my Redeemer's side. 8-78. JESU, Lover of my soul, Let me to Thy bosom fly, 95. 2 Other refuge have I none, With the shadow of Thy wing. 96. JUST 888, 6. as I am, without one plea, But that Thy Blood was shed for me, And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,O Lamb of God, I come! 2 Just as I am,-and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot; To Thee, whose Blood can cleanse each spot,— 3 Just as I am,-though toss'd about 4 Just as I am,-poor, wretched, blind; 5 Just as I am,-Thou wilt receive, 6 Just as I am,-Thy love, I own, Now, to be Thine; yea, Thine alone,— |
