SCRIPTURE LESSON.

HE Lord bless thee, and keep thee: the Lord make his face shine upon thee: the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee,

and give thee peace. Num. vi: 24, 25, 26. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.-Deut. xxviii: 2. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed: and make you a new heart and a new spirit. Ezek. xviii: 31. And this is the record of John, When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that Prophet? And he answered, No. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. John 1: 19-23.

PRAYER,

OUNTIFUL Father, the eyes of all wait upon Thee, and Thou givest them their meat in due season. Grant that we may have grateful hearts for the provisions of Thy hand, and let them nourish our frail bodies, that we may have strength to pursue our respective avocations worthily and well. Keep us in Thy love, forgive our sins, and save us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON.

ND Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. -Luke iv: 14-21.

PRAYER.

UR Father in heaven, we thank Thee that Thou didst send Thy son, Jesus Christ, to tell us of the mansions

above, where Thy children live with Thee forever; that our souls shall live, though these bodies perish, and that we go hence to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away. Help us, we beseech Thee, to forsake every sin, every evil thought and feeling, that when death shall come, we may be ready for our home on high. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON

FTER this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. --Matt. vi: 9-15.

PRAYER.

ATHER of all, who art the Father of Mercies: enable us sincerely and heartily to pray for all mankind. For

all in authority, that they may seek the honor which cometh only from Thee: for all sincere worshippers, that they may see Thy glory in the face of the Redeemer, and know him to be the way, and the truth, and the life: for the unbelieving and the heedless, that a living coal from the altar may touch their lips, and refine their souls into glowing love: for the corrupt and the selfish, that the rod of judgment may become the staff of Thy merciful help: for the afflicted and the oppressed, that they may be comforted and redeemed, and come up out of great tribulation with robes whiter than snow: and for all men, everywhere, that they may be brought to that knowledge of Thee which is eternal life, and evermore glorify Thy holy name. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON.

F any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear. With what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you; and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given; and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.-Markiv: 23-28.

PRAYER.

GOD, the Creator, Preserver and Father of all mankind, we pray for all sorts and conditions of men, that Thy ways may be known unto them, Thy saving health unto all nations. May all people be led into the way of truth, and live in unity of spirit and the bond of peace. May all mankind of every faith be united in righteousness. Bless all the afflicted, comfort the suffering, deliver the oppressed, and make one family in heaven of all the nations, families and kindreds of the earth, in Thine own time and way. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON.

EHOLD, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.-Job v: 17.

Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. Deut. viii: 5. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.Lam. iii: 33. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient.-James v: 7,8. We glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope. Rom. v: 3,4. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. -Rev. xix: 6.

PRAYER.

HOU Source of consolation, as Thou art the Father of all mankind, by Thy gracious promises, revealed in Thy holy word, we are encouraged to come to Thee, and, in sincerity of heart and with childlike trust, to offer unto Thee our prayers and supplications, that our faith may be enlarged, our joy increased, and our spiritual strength renewed. Wilt Thou, O God, lift upon us the light of Thy countenance, and fill our hearts with peace. May that fear which hath restraint be entirely banished from our minds, that we may be made perfect in love, and cherish that reverence which is the beginning of all true wisdom. Amen.
