SCRIPTURE LESSON. WILL sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. For I have said mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.—Ps. lxxxix: 1, 2. Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the ¡ight of thy countenance.—Ps. lxxxix: 15. Thou wilt show me the path of life; in thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.—Ps. xvi: 11. He will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.-I. Tim. ii: 4 He will swallow up death in victory, and wipe tears from off all faces.-Isa. xxv: 8. He will destroy the works of the devil.—I. John iii: 8. He will destroy man's last enemy.-I. Cor. xv: 26. He will reconcile all things unto himself.-Col. i: 20. He will finish sin, make an end of transgression, and bring in everlasting righteousness. -Dan, ix: 24. PRAYER. LORD, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to this day; defend us in the same with Thy mighty power, and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by Thy governance, may be righteous in Thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE LESSON. HE Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.-Ps. xxvii: 1-5. When thou saidst, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, thy face, Lord, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me,then the Lord will take me up. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.-Ps. xxvii : 8-13. PRAYER. E extol Thee, our Father, and magnify Thy name. JU May Thy praise be ever upon our lips, and Thy glory fill our souls with light and life. Thou art the source of all true blessings, and we bless Thee that Thou art good to all Thy children. We know Thou art nigh to all that. call upon Thee in truth, and that Thy tender mercies are over all Thy works. Give us grateful hearts that we may fully appreciate the favors of Thy hand, and acknowledge Thee as our only Lord. May all generations praise Thee, and give all honor and glory to Thy name. Graciously consider us in all our petitions to Thee, and in Thine own time bring us to Thyself. Amen. SCRIPTURE LESSON. THEREFORE, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. With all lowli ness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. And he gave some, apostles: and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.-Eph. iv: 1-8; 11-13. PRAYER. E thank Thee, our Father, that Thou hast given us JU Thy word, and that we are taught Thy truth. May we learn to love that truth. May it be so fixed in our minds that, with the faith of Christ on our lips, and in our hearts, we may know and do Thy will. So shall our tongues praise Thee with songs of joy, and our hearts shall. love Thee more than words can tell. Be with us now and at all times. Blot out all our sins, and make us to serve Thee now and evermore, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE LESSON. LORD thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising; thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.-Ps. cxxxix: 1-12. PRAYER. Yea, the GOD, the Creator and Father of all mankind, we beseech Thee for all conditions of men, that Thou wouldst be pleased to make Thy ways known unto them, Thy saving health unto all nations, that they may be guided and governed by Thy good spirit, and that all who profess and call themselves Christians, may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. We commend to Thy Fatherly goodness, all those who are any ways afflicted or distressed in mind, body, or estate; that it may please Thee to comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions; and this we beg through Jesus Christ. Amen. SCRIPTURE LESSON. OW sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth. Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.-Ps. cxix: 103-105. He will not always chide.-Ps. ciii: 9. He will not contend forever.-Isa. lvii: 16. He will not cast off forever.-Lam. iii: 31. He will not retain his anger forever.-Micah vii: 18. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.-Ps. cxxxix: 17, 18; 23, 24. PRAYER. ORD of all power and might, who art the Author and Giver of all good things, and who art our Father, graft in our hearts the love of Thy name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness, and of Thy great mercy keep us in the same. And may the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen. |
