Walking with wise men.

11 Wealth' gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth + by labour shall increase.

12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of

death.

15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is

hard.

16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.

CHAPTER XVIII. Sundry Proverbs. 8A gift is as a precious stone in THROUGH desire a man, havthe eyes that himself, seeketh ersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool.

11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
