Hereditarily familiar with the Mantuan poet through the translations by his father and brother, and himself a Latin scholar of the highest distinction, Dr. KENNEDY has naturally accumulated a large store of solid criticism on VIRGIL'S Works, and has not been content to acquiesce in the ordinary tradition of readings, explanations, and punctuational variations.
