POST FREE FOR SIX STAMPS, or LARGE EDITION (bound in cloth) 1s. 3d, from the AUTHOR

AND ALL LUNG DISEASES.

By G. T. CONGREVE, Coombe Lodge, Peckham.

The Nature, Progress, and True Treatment of this Scourge of England, with 133 Seleeted Cases.

MR. CONGREVE IS PUBLISHING A NEW CASE FOR EVERY WEEK IN 66 CHRISTIAN WORLD," THE "GLOBE," 66 HERALD," AND ABOUT TWENTY WEEKLY PAPERS. THE READER WHO HAS ANY INTEREST IN CASES OF CHEST DISEASE IS EARNESTLY REQUESTED TO WATCH FOR THEM WEEK BY WEEK.

The following REMARKABLE CASE of BRONCHOPHTHISIS is taken from the NINTH SERIES.

Mrs. E. JAMES, of WITHINGTON, CHELTENHAM.

THE husband of this patient, being acquainted with Mr. E. Comely and Mr. Smith (see case xcix. of my book); also seeing the cases which I publish weekly in the Christian World, applied to me in the last extremity for help for his wife.

On an investigation of her case it was noted that several of her relatives had died of Consumption. The first sympton was loss of voice, followed by hacking cough, pains in chest, shoulder blades, and left side, oppressed breathing, loss of flesh all over the body, extreme debility, and swelling of the legs had begun. Full instructions were given.

For several months the case was wavering, and her life in the balance. It was well that neither she nor her husband were discouraged. They felt it was her only hope (humanly speaking), and persevered. One thing was evident (as the husband expressed himself) life was being prolonged."

In the fourth month there was much encouragement; but outward symptoms, such as sickness and diarrhoea (it was the month of July), had to be dealt with as they arose, by milk and lime- water, and suitable astringent medicine.

After this she rapidly got well.

I have received a letter, dated January 2, 1884, in which the husband says: "With feelings of great gratitude I write to say my wife has continued well, and is better than she ever was in her life, and certainly she is since I have known her (which is now twelve years). She has walked 16 miles in the day, and it does not hurt her so much as to get upstairs when I first wrote to you. She has had a fine boy who is doing well. I thank you for letting me have medicine as you did at reduced charge. You can publish her case if you please, and use my name. I believe all persons suffering from such complaint as hers should apply to you.-THOS. JAMES, Withington," &c.

The following is from the "CHRISTIAN HERALD," March 5:

HINT TO THE BENEVOLENT.

The following is a sample of many letters Mr. CONGREVE is continually receiving. It is from a CLERGYMAN'S WIFE :

"H-Rectory,-Dear Mr Congreve, will you send me a supply of medicine at a reduced price, as kindly promised for poor people, I shall be so thankful? I am giving it away to our poor.

"A young woman here for whom you sent medicine and prescribed for, the year before last had been given over by our medical men. So I took her in hand. She quite recovered in six months, and is now at home here, well and hearty."

We have only space to notice that a recent case which Mr. CONGREVE has not published is that of Mr. ROBERT BURNETT, AGENT OF THE NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETY OF SCOTLAND, who has been "raised up from the gates of death." This case will appear in print in full shortly. Mr. B. is in excellent health now, and about returning to China.

Note.-Mr. Congreve's Son-in-law, J. Alex. Brown, M.R.C.S., L.S.A. is now associated with him.
