BOWDOIN SQUARE BAPTIST RELIGIOUS SOCIETY. The Proprietors of the house of worship constitute a body corporate under the above title. Their annual meeting is held in April, at which time they elect a 'Standing Committee,' with a Treasurer and Clerk, to whom is committed the business of the Society, as set forth in the following extract from their By-Laws. 'The said Committee shall cause all necessary repairs to be made in and about the Meeting House; shall provide for warming and lighting the said house and the vestry; shall appoint a Sexton, assign his duties, and fix his compensation; shall superintend the Choir; shall examine all bills against the Society, and approve them before payment; and shall attend to all other prudential concerns of the Society. Orders and bills, when approved by a majority of said Committee, shall be certified by the Chairman. No alteration shall be made in any pew without the previous consent thereto of said Committee.'
