Read, publish'd and enregister'd, having heard concerning the fame the King's Attorny General, and at his Requifition, to be executed according to the Form and Tenour thereof. At Paris, in the Parliament, the 27th day of July, 1660. Sign'd, Du Tillet.

SEEN by the Court, all the Chambers being affembled. After having feen, during two Mornings, the King's Letters Patent, given at Vincennes the 21ft of this prefent month of July, fign'd Lewis, and lower, by the King's Command, De Guenegaud, and feal'd with the Great Seal of yellow Wax, directed to his Attorny General: by which the faid Lord the King, willing that the Treaty of Peace, and that of his Marriage, concluded between him and the Catholick King, by the Miniftry and Interpofition of the Sieurs the Cardinal Mazarine for that Effect, deputed on the part of the faid Lord the King, and of Don Lewis Mendez de Haro, Count Duke of Carpio and Olivarez, firft Minister and Plenipotentiary of Spain, by virtue of the Powers to them given for that effect; together with the other Acts inferted at the end of the faid Treaties, fhould be publish'd and enregister'd in the faid Court, in the form obferv'd at the Treaty of Vervins in 1598. Having for these Caufes commanded and order'd the faid Attorny General to present to the faid Court the aforefaid Treaties of Peace and Marriage; the faid Letters Patent, and Letters of the Signet of the faid 21ft of July, directed to the faid Court, for the Registration and Publication of the faid Treaties of Peace and Marriage therein, with Command therefore approv'd to the faid Attorny General, to make, at the Exhibition thereof, all the Suits and Requifitions neceffary in fuch Cafes, and to fubmit himself, in the name of the faid Lord, to the Obfervation and Execution of all the things contain'd therein; the Letters Patent directed to the faid Court, for the Publication and Registration of the faid Treaties of Peace and Marriage, and other Deeds inferted at the end thereof; with Command to caufe the fame to be maintain'd, kept and obferv'd inviolably, according to

their Form and Tenour, without contravening or fuffering any Contravention thereunto in any manner; compelling, and caufing to be compel'd all Perfons whom it fhall concern, to the Obfervation of the Points and Articles contain'd in the faid Treaties, by all due means, and ufual in fuch Cafes; notwithstanding all Edicts, Ordinances, Customs, as well general as local, Reftrictions, Mandates and Prohibitions whatsoever, contrary thereunto: From which, in regard to the faid Treaties, it is derogated by the faid Letters, in which are inferted the faid Treaty of Peace made between the two Crowns by the faid Plenipotentiaries, fign'd by them in the Isle of Pheasants, the 7th of Novemb. 1659. with the Powers given to them; to wit, by the faid Lord the King to the aid Sieur Cardinal Mazarine, by Letters Patent given at Paris the 10th of May, 1659. and to the faid, Don Lewis de Haro, by the Catholick King, by other Letters given at Madrid the 5th of July of the fame year; the Ratifications of the faid Treaties made by the two Kings the 24th of November and December, 1659. the Letters Patent given at St. John de Luz the 1ft of June, 1660. containing the Articles agreed on, in explication of the 42d Article of the faid Treaty; and the Ratification made of the faid Articles of Interpretation, as the faid Plenipotentiaries had agreed and fettled them the 31ft of May, 1660. together with the Contract of Marriage of the faid Lord the King, with the moft Serene Infanta the Lady Maria Therefa, eldeft Daughter of the faid Catholick King, made by the faid Sieur Cardinal Mazarine, in the name and in quality of Deputy of the faid Lord the King on one part, and the faid Don Lewis de Haro, before Pedro Colonna, Secretary of State, the Catholick King's Scribe and Notary, the faid 7th day of November, 1659. in prefence of the Witneffes thereinmention'd. At the end of which are inferted the Powers given by the two Kings to the faid Sieurs Plenipotentiaries, for effectuating the faid Contract of Marriage, by the King's Letters Patent given at Paris the 21st of June, 1659. and the Catholick King's of the 5th of July in the fame year; with the Ratifications made in confequence by the two Kings, of the faid Contract of Marriage of the 14th of November, and 10th of December, 1659. the Conclufions of the King's faid Attorny Gene

The Matter being taken into Deliberation, the faid Court has order'd, and does order the faid Letters, Treaty of Peace, Contract of Marriage, and other Deeds inferted therein, to be enroll'd in the Registry (or Office of Records) of the faid Court, to be read, publish'd and executed according to their Form and Tenour; 'and that collated Copies of the faid Treaty of Peace fhall be fent to the Bailiwicks and Senefchalfhips of the Jurif diction, there to be likewife read, publish'd, register'd and executed, according to the Form and Tenour thereof. Of which the Substitutes of the King's faid Attorny General, are enjoin'd to certify the Court within a month. Done in Parliament the 27th of July, 1667. Sign'd, Du Tillet.

To our moft dear and well-beloved Coufin, Don Lewis Mendez de Haro and Guzman, Marquifs of Carpio, Count Duke of Olivarez, perpetual Governor of the Royal Palaces and Arfenal of the City of Seville, perpetual Grand Chancellor of the Indies, of the Catholick King's Council of State, Great Commander of the Order of Alcantara, Gentleman of the faid King's Bedchamber, and his Master of the Horfe, Greeting. By the firft Article of the Treaty of Marriage, concluded and agreed between us and the moft Serene Infanta of Spain, Donna Maria Therefa, by our common Plenipotentiaries for the Treaty of Peace, and the Bufinefs of the Marriage, fign'd in the Ifle call'd, The Ine of Pheasants, in the River of Bidaffoa, on the Confines of the two Kingdoms, the 7th day of November, 1659. it is granted and agreed, that with the Grace and Bl-fling of God, and upon condition of obtaining a Difpenfation from our Holy Father the Pope, by reafon of the Degrees of Kindred and Confanguinity between us and the faid moft Serene Infanta, our Efpoufals and Marriage

fhall be made and celebrated, by the word of one prefent, in the Form, and with the Solemnities ordain'd by the facred Canons and Conftitutions of the Holy Catholick, Apoftolick and Roman Church; and that the Solemnity of the faid Marriage, by the word of one prefent, fhall be perform'd in the Court and Palace of the faid Catholick King, where the faid moft Serene Infanta Donna Maria Therefa is. In order whereto, for accomplishing the Contents of the faid Article, and according to it, betrothing and efpoufing the faid most Serene Infanta in our name, by the word of one present, it is neceffary to make choice of fome notable Lord of Quality, futable to an Act fo honourable and important to our Dignity and common Satisfaction. For thefe Caufes, fully confiding in your Capacity, Sufficiency, Integrity, Prudence, Experience, and particular Defire for our Satisfaction aforefaid, with the Advice and prudent Counsel of the Queen our moft honour'd Lady and Mother, of our most dear and moft beloved only Brother the Duke of Anjou, of the Princes and Officers of our Crown, and the principal Lords of our Council, we have commiffion'd, order'd and deputed you, and do commiffion, order and depute you, by thefe Prefents, fign'd with our Hand, and by virtue thereof in our Name, to betroth and efpoufe by words in Prefence, in the face of the Holy Church, in the Form and with the Solemnities contain'd in the Holy Decrees thereof, the faid moft Serene Infanta Donna Maria Therefa. And for the Solemnity and Celebration of the faid Marriage, to give the neceffary Faith and Word of Proxy, in the fame manner as we would and might do, if we were there perfonally prefent. Promifing upon the faith and word of a King, to ratify perfonally all that fhall be faid, done and promis'd by you on that occafion, when the faid moft Serene Infanta Donna Maria Theresa fhall be near us, in the manner, and within the time agreed and promis'd by the faid Treaty of Marriage. A verbal Procefs of the Oath made by the most Chriftian King of France and Navarre, to obferve the Peace concluded between the two Crowns, the 6th of June, 1660.

HE moft High, moft Excellent, and moft Mighty Prince, the King our Sovereign Lord, and the most High, moft Excellent, and moft Mighty Prince the Catholick King of Spain, being advanc'd to the Pyrenees on the Frontiers of their Kingdoms, upon the occafion of the Marriage of the King our faid Lord, with the most Serene Infanta of Spain, Maria Therefa: Their Majefties defiring to render more folemn and authentick the Act (or Ceremony) of the Oath they are oblig'd to take refpectively, for the Obfervation and Accomplishment of the Treaty of Peace, concluded and fign'd the 7th of November laft; instead of fending and deputing Perfons on either fide to be Witneffes of the taking of the faid Oath, having refolv'd to do it publickly, in the Prefence of each other, in the Houfe built for the Interview between their Majefties, in the Ifle call'd The Isle of Pheasants, in the River of Bidasoa. For the performance whereof their faid Majefties tranfported themselves into the faid House, the 6th of this prefent month of June; where, in prefence of us Lewis Phelypeaux, Sieur de la Brilliere, Count of Florentine, Baron of Heruif and of Chateauneuf upon the Loire, Commander of two of the King's Orders; Henry de Guenegaud, Lord du Pleffis, Marquifs of Plancy, Viscount of Semoine, Baron of St. Just, alfo Commander, Keeper of the Seals of the King's faid Orders; Michael le Tellier, Marquifs of Louvoy, alfo Commander of the faid Orders; and Lewis Henry de Lomenie, Count of Brienne and Montbrun, Baron of Pougy, all Counsellors of the King our aforefaid Lord, in his Councils, Secretaries of State, of his Commands, and of his Finances, his Majefty made and took the Oath which he was oblig'd to make by virtue of the Treaty of Peace; of which the Tenour follows.
