from the other by any particular Treaty, withou that others Confent.

IV. But if the Negotiation of Peace which is held at Nimeguen, comes to be broke up, and that the Parties fhould agree upon any other Place to treat of it, or of a Truce, that cannot be done without the Confent or Agreement of the other Allies; and without, at the fame time, one of the Parties of the Confederacy pro cure alfo to the other, the neceffary Pasports to pafs freely, and without danger, to the place appointed for the Treaty, where he oughtalfo to communicate to him all that paffeth in that Negotiation. And, in the mean time, they shall not have Power to confent to any Peace or Truce, but according to the Conditions ftipulated by the firft Article, or fuch other as they fhall agree upon, and without his Ally be re-establish'd in the full and entire Poffeffion of all the Lands, Towns, Places and Immunities, which he enjoyed at the Signing of this Treaty, in Europe, if it be not otherwife agreed on between his Majefty and the States.

V. But if the Peace in Hand terminate happily between the Moft Chriftian King on the one Hand, and his Catholick Majefty and the States General on the other, whether by the Propofitions which France hath made her felf, or by fuch others as they can agree to, his Britannick Majefty and the States will not only be Guarrantee in the beft and fureft form that may be, but alfo it is free for other Kings and Neighbouring Princes who fhall have any Intereft in the Repofe of Christendom, and the immutable Tranquility of the Low Countries to be fo.'Tis with this View that his faid Majefty and the States would agree upon the Troops and Means that are ne ceffary to bring the Perfon who fhall Violate the Peace, to make Satisfaction for the Damage he fhall do another any manner of way.

VI. Thefe Articles, and the full Contents of them, are to be Sign'd and Ratified within Three Weeks, or fooner, if it may be, and the Ratifications exchanged at the fame time. Given at the Hague, July 26. 1678.
