(whether they have passed in any subjects previously or not) are requested to intimate the fact to The Secretary, L.L.A. Scheme, The University, St Andrews. Thereafter, a "Form" of application will be sent to them, to be filled up, signed, and returned NOT LATER THAN 1ST MARCH 1911.

Applications for copies of the L.L.A. Prospectus, or Examination questions of previous years, should be made to The Secretary, L.L.A. Scheme.

The Fee to be paid by Candidates coming up to be examined for the first time is Two Guineas. This Fee covers two Examina

tions, whether in consecutive years or not. At a third, and any subsequent, Examination, a Fee of One Guinea must be paid. The Fee must be sent when the Examination Form is returned. Candidates wishing to be examined at Foreign Centres must pay an additional Fee of Half a Guinea for each Examination. FEES MUST IN ALL CASES BE PAID TO MR WILLIAM WILKIE, FACTOR, THE UNIVERSITY, ST ANDREWS, BY POST OFFICE (NOT POSTAL) ORDER ON ST ANDREWS POST OFFICE. When several Fees are sent together, they may be sent by bank draft. No Candidate can be entered for Examination till the full Fee is paid, and no Fee can be returned under any circumstances. If a Candidate is entered for Examination, but does not attend, the Fee paid cannot count for a subsequent year, unless special exemption from the Examination is granted not less than a fortnight before it takes place.

Candidates who obtain the Title of L.L.A. must pay an additional Fee of Four Guineas before receiving their Diploma, making use of the Title, or wearing the Badge; and this Diploma fee must be paid to MR WILLIAM WILKIE, FACTOR, THE UNIVERSITY, ST ANDREWS · by post-office order, or by bank draft, not by cheque on private accounts-within three months after the result of the last examination is announced.

No Candidate can be admitted to the L.L.A. Examination who does not hold the L.L.A. Preliminary Examination Certificate, the Local Examination Certificate of a University, or a Certificate of the College of Preceptors, or a Government Leaving Certificate, or a Government Teacher's Certificate, or is a King's Scholar, or possesses such a certificate as may be approved of by the University.

Those who have received the L.L.A. Title, but wish to add to its value, may be examined in any subject or subjects in which they have not previously passed, and obtain an additional Certificate the Fee for each subsequent Examination being One Guinea.

There is no limit as to age in the L.L.A. Examination.

The attention of Candidates is drawn to the Ordinary and Honours Diplomas for Teachers, which are strongly recommended as suitable for those who are or intend to be teachers.

ORDINARY DIPLOMA FOR TEACHERS.

The Diploma must bear :

A. That the holder has obtained a pass in seven subjects; B. (1) that among the seven subjects, English (comprising an essay, certain prescribed books, and a period of Literature), Education (comprising Theory and History, general and applied Method, School Management, and School Hygiene), and Logic or Mathematics have been included; and also (2) a language from group I., a science from group II., and two subjects from one of the groups I., II., III.

HONOURS DIPLOMA FOR TEACHERS.

The Diploma must bear :

A. That the holder has obtained Honours in (1) any two subjects in group I. ; or (2) one of the combinations in group IV.; or (3) any two subjects in group II., under the conditions affecting Honours in scientific subjects in the L.L.A. scheme of examinations, except Astronomy (which may be taken by Honours candidates among their Pass subjects).

B. That the holder has passed in three subjects on the Pass Standard in addition to, but different from, her Honours subjects.

C. That among the subjects taken on either the Pass or Honours Standard, English, Education, and Logic or Mathematics have been included.
