IT IS suggested that the members of the household sign this Covenant Card as indicating their faith in Jesus Christ their willingness to obey Him as Lord and Master, and their readiness to confess Him before men.

I was once holding a series of meetings in another part of the world, when I noticed one of my special friends, who was occupying a seat upon the platform, busily engaged in writing. I wondered what could be occupying his mind.. Later, I found out that he was planning a Family Covenant Card. I was preaching that evening on The Home, and it evidently occurred to him, that it would be a good thing to have his entire household enrolled under the Family Covenant. He took the card home that night and within a short time the names of father, mother, and children were all written down. Two of his boys entered the service of their country; one of them made the supreme sacrifice in the early part of the war, the other was killed in the spring of 1918. The names of both of these young officers are to be found to-day upon the Covenant Card, and I can quite understand how their distinguished father and their devoted mother feel as they read their names. I can also appreciate the sense of comfort and joy which must have been theirs because of the signatures of their two sons.

It is most earnestly recommended that on some special evening, perhaps on Sunday evening, the household using this book be gathered together, the Family Covenant Card explained, and the names of the household written down.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy

Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

¶The Lord's Prayer may be added at the close of each prayer if desired.

I

The Apostles' Creed

BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
