1 An Exhortation to Obedience. 26 A Bleffing and Curfe is fet before them.
Ver. 1 TH
"HEREFORE thou fhalt LOVE the LORD thy GOD, and KEEP his Charge, and his STATUTES, and his Judgments, and his COMMANDMENTS alway. 2 And know you this Day: for I speak not with your. Children which have not known, and which have not SEEN the Chastisement of the LORD your God, his GREATNESS, his MIGHTY Hand, and his stretched out Arm,
3 And his MIRACLES, and his Acts which he did in the midst of Egypt, unto Pharaoh the King of Egypt, and unto all his Land,
4 And what he did unto the ARMY of Egypt, unto their Horfes, and to their Chariots, how he made the Water of the RED SEA to overflow them as they purfued after you, and how the LORD hath deftroyed them unto this Day,
5 And what he did unto you in the Wilderness, until ye came into this Place,
6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram; how the Earth opened her Mouth and swallowed them up.
7 But your Eyes have feen all the great ACTS of the LORD which he did.
8 Therefore fhall ye KEEP all the COMMANDMENTS which I command you this Day, that ye may be ftrong, and go in and poffefs the Land whither you go to poffefs it:
9 And that ye may prolong your Days in the Land which the LORD fware unto your Fathers to give unto them, and to their Seed,
10 For the Land whither thou goeft in to poffefs it, is not as the Land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou fowedit thy Seed, and wateredit it with thy Foot, as a Garden of Herbs:
11 But the Land whither ye go to poffefs it, is a Land of Hills and Valleys, and drinketh Water of the Rain of Heaven:
12 A Land which the LORD thy GOD CARETH for: the Eyes of the LORD thy GOD are always upon it, from the Beginning of the Year, even unto the End of the Year.
13 And it shall come to pafs, if you fhall hearken diliKk 2
gently unto my COMMANDMENTS which I command you this Day, to LOVE the LORD your God, and to SERVE him with all your HEART, and with all your SouL;
14 That I will give you the RAIN of your Land in due Season, the first Rain, and the latter Rain, that thou mayeft gather in thy Corn, and thy Wine, and thine Oyl.
15 And I will fend Grafs in thy Fields, for thy Cattel, that thou mayeft eat and be full.
16 a Take heed to yourfelves, that your HEART be not deceived, and ye turn afide, and ferve other Gods, and worship them:
10 I the LORD SEARCH the HEART,
I try the Reins, even to give every Man according to his Ways, and according to the Fruit of his Doings.
17 And then the LORD's Wrath be kindled against you, and he fhut up the Heaven that there be no Rain, and that the Land yield not her Fruit, and left ye perish quickly from off the good Land which the LORD giveth you.
1 Kg xvii. 1 And Elijah faid unto Ahab, As the LORD GOD of Ifrael liveth, before whom I ftand, there fhall not be Dew nor RAIN these Years, but according to my WCRD.
18 Therefore fhall ye LAY UP these my WORDS in your HEART, and in your SouL, and bind them for a Sign upon your Hand, that they may be as Frontlets between your Eyes.
19 And ye fhall TEACH them your CHILDREN; SPEAK
ING of them when thou SITTEST in thine Houfe, and when thou WALKEST by the Way, when thou LIEST down, and when thou RISEST up.
zo And thou fhalt write them upon the Door-pofts of thine Houfe, and upon thy Gates:
21 That your Days may be multiplied, and the Days of your Children, in the Land which the LORD fware unto your Fathers to give them, as the DAYS of HEAVEN upon the Earth.
22 For if ye fhall diligently keep all these CoMMANDMENTS which I command you to do them, to LOVE the LORD your God, to walk in all his Ways, and to CLEAVE unto him;
23 Then will the LORD drive out all thefe Nations from before you, and ye fhall poffefs greater Nations, and mightier than yourselves.
24* Every Place where on the Soles of your Feet fhall tread, fhall be yours: from the Wilderness, and Lebanon, from the River, the River Euphrates, even unto the uttermoft Sea, fhall your Coaft be.
25 There fhall no Man be able to ftand before you: for the LORD your God fhall lay the Fear of you, and the Dread of you upon all the Land that ye fhall tread upon, as he hath faid unto you.
26 Behold, I fet before you this Day a BLESSING and a CURSE:
27 A BLESSING, if ye OBEY the COMMANDMENTS of the LORD your God which I command you this Day.
28 And a CURSE, if ye will NOT OBEY the COMMANDMENTS of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the Way which I command you this Day, to go after other Gods which ye have not known.
29 And it shall come to pafs,, when the LORD thy GoD hath brought thee in unto the Land whither thou goeft to poffefs it, that thou fhalt put the Bleffing upon Mount Gerizim, and the Curfe upon Mount Ebal.

5 And that Prophet, or that Dreamer of Dreams fhall be put to Death (because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the Land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the House of Bondage, to thrust thee out of the Way which the LORD thy GoD commanded thee to walk in) fo fhalt thou put the Evil away from the midst of thee.

17 And there fhall cleave nought of the curfed Thing to thine Hand: that the LORD may turn from the Fierceness of his Anger, and fhew thee Mercy and have Compaflion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath fworn unto thy Fathers;
18 When thou fhalt hearken to the Voice of the LORD thy GOD, to keep all his Commandments, which I command thee this Day, to do that which is right in the Eyes of the LORD thy. GOD.
