Is not this calling in question the doctrine of God's entire con trol over the moral universe? The view which is here taken of the government of God, has been strenuously maintained and defend ed in the pages of the Christian Spectator ever since the publica tion of the above mentioned sermon. It was the great point of controversy between Dr. Taylor and Dr. Woods. It was one of the points of controversy between Dr. Taylor and the writer of this article, in the Spirit of the Pilgrims. Enough has been written and published, on this subject, by the New Haven divines, to make a volume of no inconsiderable size. We shall be able to refer to only a few of their statements.
