STRANGE DOINGS

The increased demand for women munition-workers, and for women workers of all kinds, had resulted in the arrival in London, for the purpose of engaging in domestic service, a girl from the west of Ireland. She was cordially received, and thus she wrote home: "It's a stange place I'm coming to, surely; cabs widout horses

ELECTRICAL WORK IS INTERESTING.

W. N. Jones, better known as "Happy Jones", is scheduled to be with us again this season and we all welcome his smil ing face.

Mr. Baumgart, who is teaching interior decorating, is as fascinating as ever and attracts considerable attention from the ladies.

J. R. Ritchie, who is teaching mechanical drafting, is not the original pugilist but he sure has the looks.

It is about time that H. J. Asleson, instructor in structural steel design, started in practicing bowling as this is one of his favorite pastimes.

H. W. Meyer is on the job again teaching Units E 1-2-3. They claim he is getting pretty good at explaining Ohm's law.

George P. Svendson, our alternating current instructor, is again on the job and will have the boys guessing on alternating current in a short time.

Our friend, Leonard Soderberg, who has been on a leave of absence from the Evening School of the Dunwoody Institute for the past two years, is again on the staff and will teach Units B. C. 1-5.

John O'Donnell will endeavor to teach the boys how to keep from burning their hands when wiping a joint.

MYSELF.

I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able, as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand, with the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I want to go out with my head erect,
I want to deserve all men's respect;
But here in the struggle for fame and self
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to look at myself and know
That I am bluster and bluff and empty
show.

I never can hide myself from me;
I see what others may never see.
I know what others may never know,
I never can fool myself, and so,
Whatever happens I want to be
Self-respecting and conscious free.

DUNWOODY vs. WEST.

October 11 Dunwoody met West High in the second game of the season, at Nicollet Park. Although outplaying West in every part of the game Dunwoody had to be satisfied with a nothing to nothing score. Dunwoody had several chances to score, but lacked the necessary punch to put it over. The features of the game were Borne's punting, Enz's forward passing, the line plunging of Ott, and the defensive work of the line. Hudson, at center, played an especially strong game.

WEST VIRGINIA ART

Jason Watson took advantage of the open weather last week to paint his woodshed a light blue with red doors.

-Lane Recorder.

HE KNEW.

"Oh, come! come!" we sneered. "Did you ever actually know any person who was buried alive?"

"Well," replied the venerable Missourian, "I once had a second cousin who was elected Lieutenant-Governor."

"PUNCHING" THE CLOCK.

Day School Notes

All Day School students should see that their clock number, shop number, and locker number all agree.

The shop records of each student are based on the shop time cards and it is quite necessary that these cards be carefully and correctly filled out.

Day School boys are required to equip themselves with gym suits, shop clothes, and a set of small hand tools. The above should be secured at once.

The Club Room in the basement of Unit No. 2 has been set aside for rehabilitation students. All other Day School students are required to keep out of this Club Room.

Day School boys excused to report late or leave early on account of work must have their monthly permanent blank filled out on or before the twenty-fifth of each month.

Any boys under sixteen who are working for any employer should be sure to secure a permit from the School Board Employment Department.

L. A. Emerson, formerly principal of Dunwoody Extension School, now of Baltimore, was a welcome visitor here in June.

Among the number of last year instructors who have left us for positions of greater responsibilities are Mr. Proffitt and Mr. Reese.
