a most popular and serviceable apparatus. The exhibit is in charge of Mr. W. L. Root, who has a nebulizer in operation and is demonstrating its methods and advantages. He is calling especial attention to the system of vapor massage to the middle ear, which is

to demand the attention of the members of the Association in order to get it. The products of this house are well known, as they have been extensively advertised, and their merits carry with them wide popularity. The company conforms strictly to the principles of the profession and their products are what they are represented to be. The exhibit at this convention, which is in charge of Dr. F. C. Walsh and Dr. A. W. Latimer, contains samples of "Dioviburnia," which is a pleasant palatable uterine tonic and sedative; "Sennine," an antiseptic powder of phenol and C. P. boracic acid, non-irritant, odorless and a powerful germicide; "Neurosine," a safe, prompt and certain hynotic, without chloral, and "Palpebrine," which, as indicated by the name,

given with this instrument. When it is properly adjusted and put in operation, and a button given several blows with the finger, much. in the same manner as in striking the keys of a piano, a series of rapid inflations of the tympanic cavities, vibratory in character, are produced which practically acts as a medicated massage, not only to the middle ear, but also to the nasal cavities and connecting sinuses. By this means a new field is opened in the treatment of numerous cases in which there are adhesions, contractions and ankyloses within the tympanic cavities. Vibration is produced from within instead of from without, and tends to the expansive rather than to the compression of the ear drums. The general offices of the company are at Battle Creek, Mich., as is above stated, but they have branch offices at Philadelphia, Fresno, Cal., Toronto and London, England.

Among the exhibits of artificial limbs, that of J. F. Rowley of Chicago was prominent. Mr. Rowley is the inventor of the celebrated wax socket artificial leg with sponge rubber feet. With these two devices he has made

ankle-joint motion from a proper disposition of sponge rubber cushions which form the foot. Foot racers, jumpers, skaters, dancers, boxers and bicycle riders are using these legs, and it is hardly necessary to say that the limb must be a close imitation of the natural limb to admit of such use.

Frank & Kratz Mueller of Chicago occupy a large space with their stock of surgical instruments. The enterprising young firm is represented by Mr. Frank, Mr. Kersten and Mr. Anderson, and their stock is most complete. They are all practical workmen, having worked in all departments of the business, and when establishing themselves here got the agency for the goods of H. Windley of Berlin and Luer Wülfing of Paris. They are showing many novelties, such as all metal and all glass syringes-instruments which are easily sterilized; the new intubation set of French make; new bone and trephining sets,

A decidedly bookish display is that of the W. T. Keener Company of Chicago. Many physicians do not know that this concern has

at any age. In this foot the sole is made of sponge rubber and the top of aluminum, a combination which gives both elacticity and lightness. Much has been said of ball bearings since the advantage of that kind of joint has become known. Mr. Lyons has made a ball-bearing knee-joint that is absolutely noiseless. The pneumatic cushion gives the wearer of an aluminum pneumatic foot a springy, elastic step, thus enabling him to walk longer and with greater comfort. There are two young men at this exhibit wearing the Lyons legs. One shows a single and the other a double amputation.

and free from preservatives or harmful ingredients of any kind.

William Horlick, Sr., dispenses with the assistance of Dr. Merrill and Mr. Kasteler. It will refresh you amazingly and give you an acquaintance with some mighty good men and even better goods. These gentlemen are calling attention particularly to Horlick's Diastoid, which is a pure, unadulterated malt extract reduced to a dry, powdered form, non-alcoholic,
