THE Hymns in this little book have been taken from the "Hymns translated from the Parisian Breviary, by the Author of the Cathedral." The object which has been kept in view in the selection has been that of adopting such only as appeared the most easy and suitable for children. A few words have been occasionally altered for that purpose.

ANCIENT HYMNS FOR CHILDREN.

Morning.

My voice shalt Thou hear betimes, O Lord: early in the
morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will
look up.-PSALM V. 3.

MORNING lifts her dewy veil,

With new-born blessings crown'd;

Let us haste her light to hail
In courts of holy ground.

Christ hath shed a fairer morn,
From darkness rising free;

In His glorious light new-born
Let us lift the jubilee.
