called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine. And when even was come, he went out of the city.

"And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig-tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.. But

if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11: 12-26.

Two of his disciples went over to a village near Jerusalem to get a colt for Jesus to ride upon. "And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

"And many spread their garments in the way and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

"And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the Twelve." Mark 11: 7-11.

Many times he went to the city. At one time he entered riding triumphant and at another time to be tried in the court and by Pilate to

be delivered up to be crucified, to suffer death upon the cross.

Bethany-Home of Mary and Martha.

"Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off." John 11: 18. It was about two miles distant, lying on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives. It was the home of Martha and Mary and their brother Lazarus. Jesus frequently went there and sometimes took his disciples with him. Mark 11:11, 12; Mat. 21:17.

"Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

"When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

"Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judæa again.

"His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?

"Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

"These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

"Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

"Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
