17 And when he was gon'e fo'rth in'to the way, there came one run'ning, and kne'eled to him, and asked him, Good' Mas'ter, what shall I do that I may inherit eter'nal life? 18 And Je'sus said un'to him, Why callest thou me good'? 'there is' none good' but one, that is,' Go'd. 19 Thou kno'west the command'ments, Do not commit' adultery, Do not kill, Do not ste'al, Do not bea'r false wit'ness, Defra'ud not, Hon'our thy father and mother. 20 And he an'swered and said un'to him, Mas'ter, a'll these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Je'ṣus, beholding him, loved him, and said un'to him, One thing thou lack'est go thy way, sell whatsoev'er thou hast, and give to the po'or, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. 22 And he was sad at that saying, and went awa'y grieved: for he had grea't possessions.

23 And Je'sus look'ed round about', and saith un'to his disci'ples, How hardly shall they that have rich'es en'ter in'to the kingdom of Go'd! 24 And the disci'ples were aston'ished at his words. But Je'sus an'swereth again', and saith unto them, Chil'dren, how ha'rd is it for them that trust in rich'es to en'ter in'to the kingdom of Go'd! 25 It is easier for a cam'el to go through the eye of a ne'edle, than for a rich man to en'ter in'to the kingdom of Go'd. 26 And they were aston'ished out of meas'ure, sa'ying amon'g themselves, Who then can be saved? 27 And Je'sus, look'ing upon' them, saith, With men it is' impos'sible, but not with Go'd for with Go'd a'll things are possible.

28 Then Pe'ter began' to say un'to him, Lo, we have left a'll, and have followed thee. 29 And Je'sus an'swered and said, Verily I say un'to you, There is no man that hath left house, or breth'ren, or sisters, or father, or moth'er, or wife, or chil'dren, or lands, for my sake and the gos'pel's, 30 But he shall receive an hun'dred-fold now in this time, hou'ses, and breth'ren, and sis'ters, and moth'ers, and children, and lands, with persecu'tions; and in the world to come eternal life. 31 But man'y that are' first shall be last'; and the last' first.

32 And they were in the way go'ing up to Jeru'salem; and Je'sus went befo're them: and they were ama'zed; and as they followed, they were afra'id. And he took' again' the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen un'to him, 33 Sa'ying,' Beho'ld, we go up to Jeru'salem; and the Son of man shall be delivered un'to the chief

prie'sts, and un'to the scri'bes; and they shall condem'n him to death, and shall deliv'er him to the Gen'tiles: 34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon' him, and shall kill him; and the third day he shall rise again'. 35 And Ja'mes and John, the sons of Zeb'edee, come un'to him, sa'ying, Mas'ter, we would' that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall deṣi're. 36 And he said un'to them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said un'to him, Grant un'to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the oth'er on thy left hand, in thy glo'ry. 38 But Je'sus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 39 And they say un'to him, We can. And Je'sus said un'to them, Ye shall inde'ed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the bap'tism that I am bapti'zed witha'l shall ye be bapti'zęd: 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them' for whom it is prepa'red. 41 And when the ten heard it,' they began' to be much displeased with Ja'mes and John. 42 But Jesus called them to him,' and saith un'to them, Ye know that they which are accoun'ted to rule o'ver the Gen'tiles ex'ercise lo'rdship over them; and their grea't ones ex'ercise author'ity upon them. 43 But so shall it not be amon'g you: but whosoever will be grea't among you, shall be your min'ister; 44 And whosoev'er of you will be the chie'fest, shall be servant of all. 45 For e'ven the Son of man came not to be min'istered un'to, but to min'ister, and to give his life a ran'som for man'ý.

46 And they came to Jericho and as he went out of Jericho with his disci'ples, and a grea't number of people, bli'nd Bartime'us, the son of Time'us, sat by the highwayside begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Je'sus of Nazareth, he began' to cry out, and say, Je'sus, 'thou' son of Da'vid, have mercy on me. 48 And man'y charged him that he should hold his pe'ace: but he cri'ed the more a grea't de'al, Thou' son of Da'vid, have mercy on me. 49 And Je'sus stood' still, and comman'ded him to be called. And they call the bli'nd man, sa'ying un'to him, Be of good' com'fort, rise; he calleth thee. 50 And he, cas'ting awa'y his garment, rose, and came to Je'sus. 51 And Je'sus an'swered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do un'to thee? The blind man said un'to him, Lo'rd, that I might

receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said un'to him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Je'sus in the way.

CHAP. XI. And when they came nigh to Jeru'salem, un'to Beth'phage and Beth'any, at the mount of Olives, he sen'deth fo'rth two of his disci'ples, 2 And saith un'to them, Go your way into the village o'ver against' you and as soon as ye be entered in'to it, ye shall find a co'lt ti'ed, whereon' nev'er man sat; lo'ose him, and bring him.' 3 And if an'y man say un'to you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lo'rd hath ne'ed of him; and straightway he will send him hith'er. And they went their way, and found the co'lt ti'ed by the do'or without', in a place where two ways met; and they lo'ose him. 5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, lo'osing the co'lt? 6 And they said unto them e'ven as Je'sus had comman'ded: and they let them go. 7 And they brought the co'lt to Je'ṣus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon' him. 8 And man'y spread their garments in the way; and others cut down branch'es off the trees, and stra'wed 'them' in the way. And they that went befo're, and they that fol'lowed, cri'ed, sa'ying, Hosan'na; Bless'ed 'is' he that com'eth in the name of the Lo'rd: 10 Bless'ed 'be' the kingdom of our father Da'vid, that com'eth in the name of the Lo'rd Hosan'na in the highest. 11 And Je'sus en'tered in'to Jeru'salem, and in'to the temple and when he had look'ed round about' upon' a'll things, and now the e'ventide was come, he went out un'to Beth'any with the twelve.

12 And on the mor'row, when they were come from Beth'any, he was hun'gry: 13 And se'eing a fig-tree afa'r off having leaves, he came, if hap'ly he might find an'y thing thereon': and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.' 14 And Jesus an'swered and said un'to it, No man e'at fruit of thee hereaf'ter for ev'er. And his disci'ples heard it.'

15 And they come to Jeru'salem: and Je'sus went into the temple, and began' to cast' out them that so'ld and bo'ught in the temple, and overthrew the ta'bles of the mon'ey-cha'ngers, and the se'ats of them that sold doves; 16 And would not suffer that an'y man should' car'ry 'an'y' ves'sel through the temple. 17 And he taught, sa'ying un'to them, Is it not writ'ten, My house shall be called of all na'tions the house of prayer? but ye have made it a dẹn

of thieves. 18 And the scri'bes and chie'f prie'sts heard it,' and sought how they might destroy' him for they feared him, because all the pe'ople was aston'ished at his doc'trine. 19 And when e'ven was come, he went out of the city.

20 And in the mo'rning, as they pass'ed by, they saw the fig'-tree dri'ed up from the roots'. 21 And Pe'ter, calling to remem'brance, saith un'to him, Mas'ter, behold the fig-tree which thou curs'edst is with'ered away. 22 And Je'sus an'swering, saith un'to them, Have faith in Go'd. 23 For ver'ily I say un'to you, That whosoever shall say un'to this moun'tain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast' in'to the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall belie've that those things which he saith shall come to pass'; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say un'to you, What things soev'er ye desi're, when ye pray, belie've that ye rece'ive them,' and ye shall have 'them.' 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have a'ught against an'y; that your Father also which is in heaven. may forgiv'e you yo'ur tres'passes. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgiv'e your tres'passes.

27 And they come again' to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief prie'sts, and the scribes, and the el'ders, 28 And say un'to him, By what authority do'est thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things? 29 And Je'sus an'swered and said un'to them, I will also ask' of you one ques'tion, and an'swer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 The baptism of John, was 'it' from heaven or of men? an'swer me. 31 And they re'asoned with themselves, sa'ying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not belje've him? 32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the pe'ople: for a'll 'men' coun'ted John, that he was a proph'et inde'ed. 33 And they an'swered and said un'to Je'sus, We can'not tell. And Je'sus an'swering, saith un'to them, Ne'ither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

CHAP. XII. And he began to speak un'to them by par'ables. A 'cer'tain' man plan'ted a vin'eyard, and set an hedge about it,' and digged a place for the wi'ne-fat, and built a tower, and let it out to hus'bandmen, and went in'to

fa'r country. And at the season he sent to the hus'bandmẹn a servant, that he might receive from the hus'

bandmen of the fruit of the vin'eyard. And they caught 'him,' and be at him, and sent him' awa'y em'pty. And again' he sent un'to them anoth'er servant; and at him they cast' sto'nes, and woun'ded 'him' in the head, and sent him' awa'y sha'mefully han'dled. And again he sent anoth'er; and him they killed, and man'y oth'ers; be'ating some, and killing some. 6 Having yet therefore one son, his well-beloved, he sent him also last' un'to them, sa'ying, They will reverence my son. 7 But those hus'bandmen said among themselves, This is the he'ir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. 8 And they took' him, and killed him,' and cast' him' out of the vineyard. 9 What shall ther'efore the lo'rd of the vin'eyard do? He will come and destroy' the husbandmen, and will give the vin'eyard un'to oth'ers. 10 And have ye not read this scrip'ture, The sto'ne which the buil'ders rejec'ted is become the head of the co'rner: 11 This was the Lo'rd's do'ing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 12 And they so'ught to lay ho'ld on him, but feared the pe'ople; for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

13 And they send un'to him certain of the Pharisees and of the Hero'dians, to catch him in 'his' words. 14 And when they were come, they say un'to him, Mas'ter, we know that thou art true, and ca'rest for no man; for thou rega'rdest not the per'son of men, but te'achest the way of Go'd in truth: Is it la'wful to give trib'ute to Ce'sar or not? 15 Shall we give, or shall we not' give? But he, kno'wing their hypocrisy, said un'to them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a pen'ny, that I may see it. 16 And they brought it." And he saith un'to them, Whose 'is' this im'age and superscrip'tion? And they said un'to him, Ce'sar's. 17 And Je'sus an'swering, said un'to them, Ren'der to Ce'sar the things that are Ce'sar's, and to Go'd the things that are Go'd's. And they ma'rvelled at him.

18 Then come un'to him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they ask'ed him, sa'ying, 19 Mas'ter, Mo'ses wrote un'to us, If a man's broth'er die, and le'ave 'his' wife behind him,' and le'ave no chil'dren, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up se'ed un'to his brother. 20 Now, there were seven breth'ren: and the first took' a wife, and dying, left no se'ed. 21 And the second took' her, and died, neither left he an'y se'ed: and the third
