and approvest the things that are more ex'cellent, be'ing instruc'ted out of the law; 19 And art con'fident that thou thyself art a guide of the bli'nd, a light of them which are in da'rkness, 20 An instruc'tor of the fo'olish, a te'acher of ba'bes, which hast the fo'rm of knowledge and of the truth in the law. 21 Thou therefore which te'achest anoth'er, te'achest thou not thyself'? thou that pre'achest a man should not' ste'al, dost thou' ste'al? 22 Thou that sa'yest a man should not commit' adultery, dost thou' commit' adul'tery? thou that abho'rrest i'dols, dost thou' commit' sac'rilege? 23 Thou that ma'kest thy bo'ast of the law, through brea'king the law dishon'ourest thou Go'd? 24 For the na'me of Go'd is blasphe'med amon'g the Gen'tiles through you, as it is writ'ten. 25 For circumcision ver'ily prof'iteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is ma'de un'circumcision. 26 Therefore, if the un'circumcision ke'ep the right'eousness of the law, shall not his un'circumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And shall not un'eircumcision which is by na'ture, if it fulfil' the law, judge the'e, who by the let'ter and circumcision dost transgress' the law? 28 For he' is not a Jew which is one out'wardly; neither is that' circumcision which is out'ward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew which is one in'wardly; and circumcision is that' of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the let'ter; whose praise 'is' not of men', but of Go'd.

CHAP. III. What advantage then hath the Jew? or what prof'it is there' of circumcision? 2 Much every way: chie'fly, because that un'to them' were commit'ted the oracles of Go'd. 3 Fo'r what if some did not belie've? shall their un'belief make the faith of Go'd without' effect'? 4 Go'd forbid': yea, let Go'd be true, but ev'ery man' a li'ar; as it is writ'ten, That thou mightest be jus'tified in thy sa'yings, and mightest overcom'e when thou art judged. 5 But if our unright'eousness commend' the righteousness of Go'd, what shall we say? Is' Go'd unrighteous who ta'keth vengeance? (I speak as a man') 6 Go'd forbid': fo'r then how shall Go'd judge the world? 7 Fo'r if the truth of Go'd hath more aboun'ded through my lie un'to his glo'ry, why yet am I also judged as a sin'ner? And not rath'er,' (as we be slan'derously repo'rted, and as some affirm that we sa'y,) Let us do e'vil, that good' ma'y com'e? whose damna'tion is just'. 9 What' then? are we

better than they? No, in no' wise: fo'r we have befo're proved both Jews and Gen'tiles, that they are a'll un'der sin'; 10 As it is writ'ten, There is non'e right'cous, no', nọt on'ę: There is non'e that understan'deth, there is non'e that se'eketh af'ter Go'd. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are togeth'er become unprofitable; there is non'e that do'eth good', no, not on'e. 13 Their throat is' an o'pen sep'ulchre; with their tongues they have used dece'it; the poi'son of asps is' un'der their lips': 14 Whose mouth is full of cur'sing and bitterness: 15 Their fe'et are swift to shed blood' 16 Destruction and misery are' in their wa'ys: 17 And the way of pe'ace have they not kno'wn: 18 There is no fear of Go'd befo're their ey'es. 19 Now we know, that what things socv'er the law sa'ith, it saith to them who are un'der the law; that ev'ery mouth may be stopped, and all the world may becom'e guil'ty befo're Go'd. 20 Ther'efore by the de'eds of the la'w there shall no' flesh be jus'tified in his' sight: for by the la'w 'is' the knowledge of sin'. 21 But now the righteousness of Go'd without the law is manifested, be'ing wit'nessed by the law and the prophets; 22 E'ven the right'eousness of Go'd, which is by faith of Jesus Chri'st un'to a'll and upon' all them that belie've; fo'r there is no' dif'ference: 23 For a'll have sin'ned, and come sho'rt of the glo'ry of Go'd; 24 Being justified fre'ely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Chri'st Je'sus: 25 Whom Go'd hath set fo'rth 'to be' a propitia'tion through faith in his blood', to decla're his right'eousness for the remiss'ion of sins that are past', through the forbearance of Go'd; 26 To decla're, I say,' at this time his right'eousness; that he might be just', and the justifier of him which belie'veth in Jesus. 27 Where is bo'asting then? It is exclu'ded. By what law? of works'? Na'y; but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclu'de, that a man is jus'tified by faith without' the de'eds of the law. 29 Is he' the Go'd of the Jew's o'nly? 'is he' not also of the Gen'tiles? Yes', of the Gen'tiles also: Se'eing it is' on'e God which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and un'circumcision through faith. 31 Do we then make void' the law through faith? Go'd forbid': yea', we estab'lish the law.

CHAP. IV. What shall we then sa'y that A'braham, our father as pertaining to the flesh', hath found' ? 2 For if A'braham were jus'tified by works', he hath whereof" to

glo'ry, but not befo're Go'd. 3 For what' saith the scrip'ture? A'braham belje'ved God, and it was coun'ted un'to him for right'eousness. 4 Now to him that work'eth is the rewa'rd not reck'oned of gra'ce, but of debt'. 5 But to him that work'eth not', but belie'veth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is coun'ted for right'eousness. 6 E'ven as Da'vid also descri'beth the bles'sedness of the man un'to whom Go'd impu'teth right'eousness without' works, 7Sa'ying,' Bles'sed are they whose iniq'uities are forgiven, and whose sins are cov'ered. 8 Bles'sed 'is' the man to whom the Lo'rd will not impu'te sin. 96 Com'eth' this blessedness then upon the circumcision o'nly,' or upon' the un'circumcision also? fo'r we say that fa'ith was reck'oned to A'braham for right'eousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in un'circumcision? Not in circumcision, but in un'circumcision.

And he received the sign of circumcision, a se'al of the right'cousness of the faith which he had yet' being un'circumcised; that he might be the father of a'll them that belie've, though they be not' circumcised; that right'eousness might be impu'ted un'to them' also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not' of the circumcis ́ion o'nly, but who also walk in the steps of that fa'ịth of our fa'ther A'braham, which he had' be'ing 'yet' un'circumcised. 13 For the promise, that he should be the he'ir of the world', 'was'not' to A'braham, or to his se'ed, through the law, but through the right'eousness of faith. 14 Fo'r if they which are of the la'w 'be' he'irs, faith is made void', and the promise made of non'e effect'. 15 Because the la'w work'eth wra'th: for where no la'w is, 'the're is no transgress'ion. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be' by grace; to the end the prom'ise might be şu're to a'll the se'ed: not' to that' o'nly which is of the la'w, but to that' also which is of the faith of A'braham, who is the fa'ther of us all, 17 (As it is writ'ten, I have made the'e a fa'ther of man'y na'tions,) befo're him whom he belie'ved, ‘e'vẹn' Go'd, who quick'eneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not' as though they wer'e: 18 Who against' hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of man'y na'tions, according to that which was spo'ken, So shall thy se'ed be. 19 And being not we'ak in faith, he considered not his own bod'y now dead', when he was about an hun'dred years o'ld, ne'ither yet the dead'ness

of Sa'ra's wo'mb: 20 He stag'gered not at the prom'ise of Go'd through unbelie'f; but was strong in faith, giving glory to Go'd; 21 And being full'y persua'ded, that what' he had promised he was a'ble also to perform. 22 And therefore it was impu'ted to him for right'eousness. 23 Now, it was not writ'ten for his' sake alo'ne, that it was impu'ted to him; 24 But for us' also, to whom it shall be impu'ted, if we belie've on him' that ra'ised up Je'sus our Lo'rd from the dead'; 25 Who was delivered for our offen'ces, and was ra'ised again' for our justifica'tion.

CHAP. V. Therefore, be'ing jus'tified by faith, we have peace with Go'd through our Lo'rd Jesus Chri'st: 2 By whom also we have access' by fa'ith in'to his gra'ce wherein we stand', and rejoi'ce in ho'pe of the glory of Go'd. 3 And not o'nly 'so,' but we glo'ry in tribulations also knowing that tribula'tion work'eth pa'tience; And pa'tience, experience; and experience, ho'pe: 5 And ho'po maketh not asha'med; beca'use the love of Go'd is shed abro'ad in our hearts by the Holy Gho'st, which is given un'to us. 6 For when we were yet without' strength, in du’e time Chri'st di'ed for the ungodly. 7 Fo'r scarcely for a right'eous man will one di'e; yet peradven'ture for a good' man some would e'ven da're to di'e. But Go'd commen'deth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sin'ners, Chri'st di'ed for us. 9 Much mo're then, be'ing now' jus'tified by his blood', we shall be saved from wra'th through him'. 10 Fo'r if, when we were en'emics, we were rec'onciled to Go'd by the death' of his Son'; much mo'rę, be'ing rec'onciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not o'nly 'so,' but we also joy in Go'd through our Lo'rd Je'sus Chri'st, by whom we have now received the ato'nement. 12 Wherefore, as by on'e man sin en'tered in'to the world, and death' by sin'; and so' death pass'ed upon' a'll men, for that a'll have sin'ned: 13 (Fo'r until' the la'w sin' was in the world: but sin is not' impu'ted when there is no' law. 14 Nevertheless' death re'igned from Ad'am to Mo'ses, e'ven o'ver them' that had not' sin'ned after the similitude of Ad'am's transgress'ion, who is the figure of him that was to com'e. 15 But not as the offence, so also 'is' the free gift'. Fo'r if through the offence of on'e man'y be dead'; much mo're the gra'ce of Go'd, and the gift' by gra'ce, which is' by on'e man, Je'sus Chri'st, hath aboun'ded un'to man'y. 16 And not as it was' by one that

sin'ned, 'so is' the gift': for the judg'ment 'was' by on'e to condemnation; but the fre'e gift' 'is' of man'y offen'ces un'to justification. 17 Fo'r if by on'e man's offenc'e death re'igned by one; much mo're they which receive abun'dance of grace, and of the gift of right'eousness, shall re'ign in life by on'e, Je'sus Chri'st.) 18 Therefore, as by the offence of on'e judgment ca'me' upon' a'll mẹn to condemna'tion; e'ven so' by the right'eousness of on'e the free gift' came upon' all men un'to justifica'tion of life. 19 For as by on'e man's disobe'dience man'y were made sin'ners; so' by the obe'dience of on'e shall man'y be ma'de right'cous. 20 Morco'ver, the law en'tered, that the offenc'e might abound' but where sin' aboun'ded, gra'ce dịd mạch mo're abound': 21 That as sin' hath re'igned un'to death', e'ven so might gra'ce re'ign through right'eousness un'to eternal life by Je'sus Chri'st our Lo'rd.

CHAP. VI. What shall we sa'y then? Shall we contin'ue in sin, that gra'ce may abound'? 2 Go'd forbid'. How shall we', that are dead' to sin', liv'e an'y lon'ger therein'? 3 Know ye not, that so man'y of us as were baptized in'to Je'sus Chri'st, were bapti'zed in'to his death'? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by bap'tism in'to death' that like as Chri'st was raised up from the dead' by the glory of the Father, e'ven so' we also should walk in new'ness of life. 5 Fo'r if we have been plan'ted togeth'er in the likeness of his death', we shall be also in the likeness' of 'his' resurrec'tion: 6 Kno'wing this', that our o'ld man is cru'cified with him',' that the bod'y of sin might be destroy'ed, that henceforth we should not serv'e sin. 7 For he that is dead' is fre'ed from sin. 8 Now, if we be dead' with Chri'st, we belie've that we shall also liv'e with him : 9 Kno'wing that Chri'st, be'ing ra'ised from the dead', di'eth no mo're; death' hath no mo're domin'ion o'ver him. 10 Fo'r in that he di'ed, he di'ed un'to sin o'nce; but in that he liv'eth, he liv'eth un'to Go'd. 11 Likewise reck'on ye also yourselves to be dead inde'ed un'to sin, but ali've un'to Go'd through Je'sus Christ our Lo'rd. 12 Let not sin ther'efore re'ign in your mo'rtal bod'y, that ye should obe'y it in the lusts' thereof': 13 Neither yield ye your mem'bers 'as' in'struments of unrighteousness un'to sin': but yield yourselves un'to Go'd, as those that are ali've from the dead', and your members 'as' in'struments of right'cousness un'to Go'd. 14 Fo'r sin
