earth. 34 And the eu'nuch an'swered Phil'ip, and said, I pray thee, of whom spe'aketh the proph'et this? of himself', or of some oth'er man? 35 Then Philip o'pened his mouth, and began' at the same scrip'ture, and pre'ached un'to him Je'ṣus. 36 And as they went on' their' way, they came un'to a certain water: and the eu'nuch said, Se'e, 'he're is' wa'ter; what' doth hin'der me to be baptized? 37 And Phil'ip said, If thou belie'vest with a'll thine heart, thou ma'yest. And he an'swered and said, I belie've that Je'sus Christ is the Son of Go'd. 38 And he comman'ded the chariot to stand still' and they went down bo'th in'to the water, both Phil'ip and the eu'nuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the wa'ter, the Spirit of the Lo'rd ca'ught awa'y Phil'ip, that the eu'nuch saw him no mo're: and he went on' his way rejoicing. 40 But Phil'ip was found at Azo'tus: and pass'ing through, he preached in a'll the cit'ies, till he came to Cesare'a.

CHAP. IX. And Sa'ul, yet bre'athing out threat'enings and slaughter against' the disci'ples of the Lo'rd, went un'to the high priest, 2 And desired of him let'ters to Damas'cus to the synagogues, that if he found an'y of this' way, wheth'er they were men or wom'en, he might bring them bound' un'to Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came ne'ar Damas'cus; and suddenly there shined round about' him a light from heav'en: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying un'to him, Sa'ul, Sa'ul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, W'ho art thou, Lo'rd? And the Lo'rd said, I am Je'sus whom thou persecutest. It is' ha'rd for thee to kick against the pricks. And he', trem'bling and aston'ished, said, Lo'rd, what wilt thou have me to do'? And the Lord 'said' un'to him, Ari'se, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what' thou must do. 7 And the men which jour'neyed with him stood' spe'echless, he'aring a voice, but seeing no' man. 8 And Sa'ul aro'se from the earth; and when his eyes were o'pened, he saw no' man: but they led him by the hand, and bro'ught him' in'to Damas'cus. And he was thre'e days without' sight, and neither did e'at nor drink'.

10 And there was a certain disci'ple at Damas'cus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Anani'as. And he said, Behoʻld, I am he'rç,' Lo'rd. 11 And the Lo'rd said' un'to him, Ari'se, and go in'to the street which is called Straight, and enqui're in the house of Ju'das for 'one'

called Sa'ul of Ta'rsus: for, behold, he pra'yeth, hath seen in a vision a man named Anani'as com'ing in', and put'ting 'his' hand on him, that he might receive his sight'. 13 Then Anani'as an'swered, Lo'rd, I have heard by man'y of this man, how much e'vil he hath done to thy sa'ints at Jerusalem: 14 And he're he hath author'ity from the chief priests to bi'nd a'll that ca'll on thy name. 15 But the Lo'rd said un'to him, Go thy wa'y for he is a cho'sen ves'sel un'to me, to bea'r my na'me befo're the Gen'tiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16 For I will shew him how great things he must suf'fer for my' name's sake.

And Anani'as went his way, and en'tered in'to the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Broth'er Sa'ul, the Lo'rd, 'e'ven' Je'sus, that appe'ared un'to thee in the way as thou ca'mest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight', and be filled with the Holy Gho'st. 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales; and he received sight forthwith', and aro'se, and was baptized. 19 And when he had received me'at, he was strengthened. Then was Sa'ul certain days with the disci'ples which were at Damas'cus. 20 And straightway he pre'ached Chri'st in the syn'agogues, that he is the Son of Go'd. 21 But all that heard him' were amazed, and said, Is not this he' that destroy'ed them which called on this na'me in Jeru'salem, and came hith'er for that intent', that he might bring them bound un'to the chief prie'sts? 22 But Sa'ul increased the mo're in strength, and confoun'ded the Jew's that dwelt at Damas'cus, pro'ving that this is ver'y Chri'st.

23 And after that man'y days were fulfilled, the Jews took' coun'sel to kill' him: 24 But their la'ying awa'it was known of Sa'ul and they watch'ed the ga'tes day and night to kill him. 25 Then the disci'ples took him by night', and let him' down by the wa'll in a bas'ket.

26 And when Sa'ul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disci'ples: but they were a'll afra'id of him, and belie'ved not that he was' a disci'ple. 27 But Ba'rnabas took him, and brought him' to the apostles, and declared un'to them how he had se'en the Lo'rd in the way, and that he had spo'ken to him, and how he had pre'ached bo'ldly at Damas'cus in the name of Je'ṣus. 28 And he was with' them coming in' and go'ing out' at Jeru'salem. 29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Je'ṣus, and

dispu'ted against' the Gre'cians: but they went about' to sla'y him. 30 'Which' when the breth'ren knew, they brought him down to Cesare'a, and sent him fo'rth to Ta'rsus. 31 Then had the church'es rest throughout' a'l Jude'a, and Galilee, and Sama'ria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lo'rd, and in the com'fort of the Holy Gho'st, were multiplied.

32 And it came to pass, as Pe'ter pass'ed throughout' a'll 'quarters,' he came down a'lso to the saints which dwelt at Lyd'da. 33 And the're he found a certain man named E'neas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. 34 And Pe'ter said un'to him, E'neas, Je'sus Chri'st ma'keth thee who'le: ari'se, and make thy bed. And he aro'se imme'diately. 35 And all that dwelt in Lyd'da and Sa'ron saw him, and turned to the Lo'rd.

36 Now there was at Jop'pa a certain disci'ple named Tab'itha, which, by interpreta'tion, is called Do'rcas: this woman was full' of good' works and a'lms-de'eds which she did. 37 And it came to pass' in those days, that she was sick, and di'ed: whom when they had wash'ed, they la'id 'her' in an upper cha'mber. 38 And forasmuch as Lyd'da was nigh to Jop'pa, and the disci'ples had heard that Peter was there, they sent un'to him two men, deși'ring him' that he would not dela'y to come to them. 39 Then Pe'ter aro'se, and went' with them. When he was come, they bro'ught him in'to the upper cha'mber: and all the widows stood by him we'eping, and she'wing the coats and ga'rments which Do'rcas made while she was with' them. 40 But Pe'ter put' them all fo'rth, and kne'eled down and prayed; and, turning him' to the body, said, Tab'itha, ari'se. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Pe'ter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her 'his' hand, and lif'ted her up; and when he had called the sa'jnts and wid'ows, he presen'ted her alive. 42 And it was known throughout' a'll Jop'pa; and man'y belje'ved in the Lo'rd. 43 And it came to pass', that he tar'ried man'y days in Jop'pa with one Si'mon a tan'ner.

CHAP. X.-1 There was a certain man in Cesare'a called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian 'band,' A' devout' 'man,' and one that feared Go'd with all his house, which gave much a'lms to the pe'ople, and prayed to Go'd alway. 3 He saw in a vision evidently, about' the ninth hour of the day, an a'ngel of Go'd com'ing

in' to him, and sa'ying un'to him, Cornelius. And when he look'ed on him, he was afraid, and said, What' is it, Lo'rd? And he said un'to him, Thy pra'yers and thine alms are come up for a memo'rial befo're Go'd. 5 And now send men to Jop'pa, and ca'll for 'one' Si'mon, whose sur’name is Peter: 6 He lo'dgeth with one Si'mon a tan'ner, whose house is by the sea-side: he shall tell thee what thou o'ughtest to do'. 7 And when the a'ngel which spake un'to Cornelius was departed, he called two of his hous'ehold servants, and a devout' so'ldier of them that wa'ited on him continually; And when he had declared a'll 'these things un'to them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the mor'row, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh un'to the city, Pe'ter went up upon' the hous'e-top to pra'y about' the sixth hour. 10 And he beca'me ver'y hungry, and would have e'aten: but, while they made read'y, he fell in'to a trance, And saw heaven o'pened, and a certain ves'sel descen'ding un'to him, as it had been a grea't she'ęt knit at the four co'rners, and let down to the earth; 12 Wherein' were a'll man'ner of fo'ur-footed be'asts of the earth, and wi'ld be'asts, and cre'eping things, and fowls of the a'ir. And there came a voice to him, Ri'ṣe, Pe'ter; kill', and e'at. 14 But Pe'ter said, Not' so, Lo'rd; for I have nev'er e'aten an'y thing that is com'mon or uncle'an. 15 And the voice 'spake un'to him again' the second time, What Go'd hath cleansed, that' call not thou com'mon. 16 This was done thri'ce and the ves'sel was received up again' in'to heaven.

17 Now, while Pe'ter doubt'ed in himself' what this vision which he had se'en should me'an, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Si'mon's house, and stood befo're the gate, 18 And called, and ask'ed wheth'er Si'mon, which was sur'named Pe'ter, were lo'dged there.

19 While Pe'ter tho'ught on the vision, the Spirit said un'to him, Behold, thre'e men se'ek thee. 20 Ari'se therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubt'ing nothing: for I have sent' them. 21 Then Pe'ter went down to the men which were sent un'to him from Cornelius, and said, Behold, I am he' whom ye se'ek: what 'is' the ca'use wherefore ye are come? 22 And they said, Cornelius the centu rion, a just' man, and one that fe'areth Go'd, and of good' repo'rt among all the na'tion of the Jews, was wa'rned from Go'd by an ho'lý a'nġel to send' for thee in'to his

house, and to hear words of thee. 23 Then called he them in', and lo'dged them.' And on the mor'row Pe'ter went awa'y with them, and cer'tain breth'ren from Jop'pa accom'panied him. 24 And the mor'row af'ter they entered in'to Cesare'a. And Cornelius wa'ited for them, and had called togeth'er his kins'men and near friends.

25 And as Pe'ter was com'ing in', Cornelius met him, and fell down at his fe'et, and wor'shipped him.' 26 But Pe'ter took' him up, sa'ying, Stand up'; I myself' a'lso am a man'. 27 And as he talked with him, he went in', and found man'y that were come togeth'er. 28 And he said un'to them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew' to keep com'pany, or com'e un'to one of anoth'er na'tion; but Go'd hath she'wed me that I should not ca'll aạn'ý mạn com'mon or uncle'an. 29 Therefore came I 'un'to you' without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask' therefore for what intent' ye have sent' for me? 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fas'ting until this hour; and at the ni'nth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood befo're me in bright clothing, And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard', and thine a'lms are had in remembrance in the sight of Go'd. 32 Send therefore to Jop'pa, and ca'll hith'er Si'mon, whose sur'name is Pe'ter; he is lo'dged in the house of 'one' Si'mon a tan'ner by the sea-side who, when he com'eth, shall spe'ak un'to thee. 33 Immediately ther'efore I sent to thee; and thou hast well' done that thou art com'e. Now therefore are we a'll here present befo're Go'd, to hear a'll things that are comman'ded thee of Go'd.

34 Then Pe'ter o'pened 'his' mouth, and said, Of a tru'th I perceive that Go'd is no respec'ter of per'sons: 35 But in ev'ery na'tion he that fe'areth him, and work'eth right'eousness, is accepted with him. 36 The word which 'Go'd' sent un'to the children of Israel, pre'aching peace by Je'sus Chri'st; (he is Lo'rd of a'll;) 37 That word, 'I say,' ye kno'w, which was pub'lished throughout' a'll Jude'a, and began' from Galilee, af'ter the bap'tism which John' pre'ached: 38 How Go'd anoin'ted Je'sus of Nazareth with the Ho'ly Gho'st, and with pow'er who went about' do'ing good', and healing all that were oppress'ed of the dev'il: for Go'd was with him. 39 And we' are wit'nesses of a'll things which he did' both in the land of the Jew's, and in Jeru'salem; whom they slew', and hanged on a tre'e: 40 Him Go'd
