Yes, the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. How precious to me are thy thoughts, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee. Search me, O God! and know my heart; And see if there be any evil way in me; II. I will extol thee, my God, my King; And praise thy name for ever and ever. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; The Lord is good to all, And his tender mercies are over all his works. The Lord upholdeth all that fall, And raiseth up all that are bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon thee, And thou givest them their food in due season. Thou openest thine hand, And satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The Lord is just in all his ways, The Lord is nigh to all that call upon him, — He meets the desire of them that fear him; The Lord preserveth all those that love him: Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. He made heaven and earth; The sea, and all that is therein. He keepeth truth forever; He maintaineth the cause of the oppressed; He giveth food to the hungry; He setteth free the prisoners; He openeth the eyes of the blind; He raiseth them that are bowed down; He loveth the good; He defendeth the stranger; He relieveth the fatherless and the widow; He gathereth together the exiles; He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds. He lifteth up the lowly; He casteth the wicked down to the ground. He causeth grass to grow on the mountains. He delighteth not in the strength of the horse; Great is the Lord, and mighty in power; IV. Bless the Lord, O my soul!. O Lord, my God! thou art very great; ment. He spreadeth out the heavens like a curtain; He layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; He maketh the clouds his chariot; He rideth on the wings of the wind; They give drink to all the beasts of the forest: Near them the birds of heaven have their habi tation. He causeth grass to spring up for cattle, And seek their food from God. And lie down in their dens. Man goeth forth to his labor until the evening. All creatures look up to thee To give them their food in due season. Thou givest it to them: they take it. Thou openest thine hand: they are satisfied with good. Thou hidest thy face: they are confounded. Thou takest away their breath: they die, And return to the dust. Thou sendest forth thy Spirit; they are created: And thou renewest the face of the earth. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. V. Bless the Lord, O my soul! And all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul! And forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who saveth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies. The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and rich in mercy. He hath not dealt with us according to our sins, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Even as a father pitieth his children, As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, And his goodness to children's children. Bless the Lord, ye his angels, Ye mighty ones that do his commands; Ye servants of his that do his pleasure; Bless the Lord, O my soul! |
