AT THE Conclusion of the SIXTH, and the Commencement of the SEVENTH Volume of the CHURCH WARDER, we avail ourselves of the medium of a Preface, respectfully to tender to our readers, our grateful thanks and acknowledgements, for the kind support which they have given us, during the last six years; and earnestly to entreat the continuance of their patronage during the

next year.

MANY clerical friends, who have es olished Parochial Lending Libraries, find the CHURCH WARDER exceedingly useful amongst their parishioners; because the short papers on theological subjects, instruct without tiring the patience of men engaged in business; and the tales amuse their leisure hours, without ab

sorbing too much valuable time. Our limited space will not admit of the insertion of so much poetry, as several excellent contributors would cheerfully supply; and our notices of Books are necessarily brief, nevertheless we always give the Authors justice, in such terms as their Works deserve. We therefore beg to recommend the CHURCH WARDER to libraries intended for circulation among the families of workman and labourers.
