But some of you that hear or read this address are entirely unconcerned about, entirely unacquainted with, the battle we have been speaking of; and, perhaps, you tell us, that as you are now easy, so you intend to remain; that you see no room to fear. Alas, for you; your enemy has so far conquered you, that your hearts are hardened, your judgment blinded, your souls besotted and polluted with sin; and thus you are like unto men dead drunk, sleeping on the gang-way, and ready to be pitched overboard the first roll the vessel makes. Now if ever your souls are saved from everlasting destruction, it will be by your first of all believing the dangerous state you are in, and then by your crying unto the Lord for help and deliverance from your enemies, that have tied, and bound, and stupified you with the chain of your sins. Oh, cry for this deliverance at once; cry aloud, "Lord Jesus, save, or I shall pe

The Captain of your Salvation is the faithful and almighty God. Jesus hath engaged to subdue all your enemies; and he hath assured you that no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; that no trial or temptation shall overtake you beyond what he will enable you to bear. Only believe, and you shall be saved. Not only will his precious blood atone for all your sins, but the Holy Ghost will be given to instruct, strengthen, sanctify, and comfort you all your journey through. Never encounter one difficulty or temptation in your own strength or wisdom. Ever remember that of yourselves you can do nothing really good or powerful in the heavenly warfare, but believe that you can do all things through Christ Jesus strengthen

"Soldiers of Christ, arise,

And put your armour on,

Strong in the strength which God supplies

Through his Eternal Son.

"Strong in the Lord of Hosts,

And in his mighty power,

Who in the strength of Jesus trusts,

Is more than conqueror.

"From strength to strength go on,
Wrestle, and fight, and pray;
Tread all the powers of darkness down,
And win the well-fought day.

"That having all things done, And all your conflicts past,

You may o'ercome, through Christ alone,

And stand entire at last.

"Still let the Spirit cry

In all his soldiers, Come!"

Till Christ, the Lord, descend from high,

And take the conquerors home."
