To constitute a ballot, there must be, at least, seven Members present, one of whom to be the Steward proposing. One black bean in seven, two in eleven, and three in any number, to exclude. No ballot till the admission money, which is Three Sovereigns, is paid to the Secretary. [That, in consequence of the small attendance of Members of the Turf Club in Kildare, the present Rule for Balloting for Members shall be suspended until April Meeting, 1854, and the following Rule substituted:] That the Steward, or Stewards, and Members of the Turf Club, then present in Kildare, shall be sufficient to form a ballot, provided the person to be balloted for has been put up in the usual manner; and if seven or a less number shall ballot, one black bean to exclude. 2. Any Member of the Coffee-room desirous to become a Member of the Turf Club, must have his name put over the chimney-piece of the Coffee-room and Turf Club Dinner-room one day before the day of the ballot, and be proposed, seconded, and balloted for as for the Coffee-room. Three Sovereings additional to be paid to the Secretary before the ballot takes place. 3. Annual Subscription of One Sovereign to be paid by each Member of the Coffee-room, and Three Sovereigns by each Member of both, on Monday of each April Meeting, and this sum to be considered in full of all arrears to both. And no Member of the Turf Club can be allowed to dine with the Club, or can any Member be allowed into the Coffee-room, until his subscription is paid. 4. Members of Kildare-street Club and Hibernian United Service Club are admitted Members of the Turf Club and Coffee-room at Kildare without a ballot, on paying the usual admission money, and Members of those Clubs are admitted Honorary Members of the Club on payment of One Sovereign each Meeting. 5. Any Member of the Turf Club or Coffee-room wilfully infringing the Rules and Regulations of the Club, or whose conduct in or out of the Club after his election shall be derogatory to his station in society, such Member shall be subject to expulsion under the award of a General Meeting, to be expressly convened, for the purpose of investigating the charges brought against him; the opinion of such General Meeting to be obtained by ballot, when, if two-thirds of the Members present at such General Meeting decide that the offending Member has merited expulsion, he shall thereon cease to be a Member of the Club. 6. That for the future each Member of the Turf Club attending at the Curragh Meetings shall be obliged to pay One Sovereign subscription towards the Handicaps. 7. Each Member of the Turf Club shall pay the Keeper of the Match Book Two Sovereigns each Meeting, otherwise he is not obliged to keep an account for such Member. Should Articles be sent him from Country Stewards, they must be accompanied with Five Shillings. 8. Military Officers on duty out of Ireland shall not be liable to pay the Annual Subscription for the time they may be so absent, on their signing a declaration to that effect. 9. The Club House being in a delapidated and ruinous state, it was agreed to in June Meeting 1815, that each Member of the Turf Club who had not subscribed should pay Five Guineas towards the erection of a new Club House, said sum to be paid before the last day of the then next October Meeting; and that any Member neglecting to pay the same should be no longer considered a Member, but might be balloted for at any subsequent Meeting, and, if admitted, should not be liable to pay any other admission than said Five Guineas. 10.
