This Quarterly, during the twenty years of its existence, has maintained a very high reputation at home and abroad; its circle of writers is undoubtedly greater than that of any other publication, embracing many of the best writers in the land; and a large number of its articles have been republished in this country and in Great Britain and Germany. Though able competitors have arisen, it still maintains a vigorous being, and is gradually extending its circulation. It will still be devoted to disquisitions and essays in the various departments of Theology, History of Opinions, Biblical Philology and Exegesis, and Sacred and Classical Literature, from eminent writers of different religious denominations, as well as occasional translations from the German. Its present Conductor purposes and hopes to increase its interest and value to ministers, scholars, and intelligent men generally.

The Volume for the present year will contain more articles strictly Biblical than some previous ones, and will be printed on new type. It is the cheapest Quarterly of the day, considering its size and the character of the work-each Number containing 192 pages of solid matter. Terms, $3 in advance, or two years for $5, if paid in advance, at our Office, or remitted by mail at our risk.

AMERICAN NATIONAL PREACHER.

The 23d Volume of this Monthly begins with January, 1849. Each Number contains two or more sermons from eminent living American divines, and its contributors are among the first preachers and divines in the several evangelical denominations in the country. It is a work unequalled by any similar work; the repository of many of the ablest and best sermons preached; and a work that ministers and Christians generally will find highly useful. The Volume for 1848 is now neatly hound, making an octavo of 300 pages, and containing sermons from Drs. Mason, Shepard, Sprague, Bethune, White, Krebs, Fisher, Ferris, Condit, Richards, and Storrs, and from Rev. Messrs. Prime, Spear, Cheever, Hill, Clarke, and others of known ability and standing, on a great variety of topics. Price $1. Subscription price, $1 in advance.

These works are conducted by J. M. SHERWOOD, office 20 Nassau Street, New York.
