Blakesten Nov-14, 1441. in point of merit, and so uncongenial in sentiment added to the bulk to which the volumes have been generally extended, as to render them entirely unsuitable for the purpose for which this is designed. Every care has been taken to avoid selecting such poems as contain any allusions to sentiments not strictly according with delicacy and propriety, and, taking into view the size of the volume, it is presumed, there has never before been one published which contains so many poems of indisputable merit. |
