Liebig Co.'s Ceca Beef Tonic.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Quinine.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Citrate of Iron.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Iron and Quinine.

The formulas of these have been widely advertised in leading medical journals. In the following we give the newer combinations. These have been received with much favor by the profession. The Coca Beef Tonic with Quinine has found so much favor with the profession that our facilities have frequently been severely taxed to meet the demand.

The plain Coca Beef Tonic is the only article on the list which can be at all regarded as a popular article. The general public buys tonics independent of professional advice, and our aim is in this one preparation to give the public a reliable article. All of the others of our preparations have been introduced through the profession only.

In the preparations of our Coca Beef Tonic, Coca Wine, Elixir Coca, Coca Cordial, etc., we use the celebrated Imperial Crown Sherry. We quote in this connection the following cable dispatch, and for proof, should it be desired, we beg to refer to the N. Y. Office of Messrs. Gonzalez, Byass, & Co., 39 Broadway. It will be seen, therefore, that we control absolutely the whole growing of this famous brand, and use it exclusively in the manner named in this dispatch.

SPECIAL BY CABLE.

XEREZ, SPAIN.-The representative of the Liebig Company of New York has closed with the celebrated growers, Messrs. Gonzalez, Byass & Co, for their entire growing of Imperial Crown Sherry. This brand has been the recognized king of Wines for centuries, for those out of health. The Liebig Company will use it in the preparation of their Coca Beef Tonic and Coca Wine.

The following combinations of the Coca Beef Tonics are computed on the basis of the tablespoonful, or more strictly speaking, the half ounce. These ingredients are in solution in Imperial Crown Sherry. In addition to these ingredients, each tablespoonful also represents the essence of an ounce of choice mea Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Quinine contains 5 grs. Coca (quality guaranteed) 3 grs. Calisaya Bark, and 2 grs. pure Quinine.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Iron and Quinine; 5 grs. Coca, 3 grs. Calisaya, 2 grs. Quinine, 2 grs. Citrate of Iron.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Iron, Quinine and Strychnine; 5 grs. Coca, 4 grs. Citrate Iron, 2 grs. Quinine, and 1-60 gr. Strychnine.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Iron, Quinine, Strychnine and Pepsine; 5 grs.
Coca, 1 gr. Quinine, 2 grs. Pyrophosphate of Iron, 1-32 gr. Strychnine and 3 grs. Pepsine.
Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Calisaya; 5 grs. Coca, 1 gr. Citrate Iron, 1⁄2 gr. Quinine,
10 grs. Calisaya.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic, with Calisaya, Iron and Phosphorus; 5 grs. Coca, 10 grs. Calisaya, 4 grs. Pyrophosphate of Iron, 1-100 gr. of Phosphorus.

Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Pepsine; 5 grs. Coca, 3 grs. Calisaya, 5 grs. Saccharated Pepsine (U. S. P.)

Formulas of Liebig Co.'s Coca Beef Tonic with Bismuth, Iron and Strychnine; with Pepsine and Pancreatine; Pancreatine, with Wi d Cherry, etc, etc, cheerfully sent. Liebig Co.'s Coca Wine. Unequalled in flavor. Made with Imperial Crown Sherry.

COCA.-TWO NOTEWORTHY PREPARATIONS OF THE VALUABLE REMEDY.

In the practical use of Coca are many and serious difficulties. The conditions under which a maximum effect may be obtained are numerous and delicate. The leaves of but one species of the coca seem to contain the alkaloid or vital principle in any appreciable amount. They must be grown in certain soils and climates, picked at a certain stage of maturity, and in certain weather. They must be packed in small quantities so as to prevent crushing, heating, moulding or decay. In transportation, they should be kept in cool, well-ventilated places, and as far away from bilge, fumes, gases and vapors as possible. When delivered at their destination, they should be used immediately. The importance of these precautions may be gathered from the fact that out of a thousand pounds of leaves gathered upon the haciendas of Western South America, one-half are from other species of the Erythroxylon, one-eighth are spoiled in the picking, and one-eighth in the subsequent transportation and storage, leaving but twenty-five per cent. available for medical and scientific use. Of the coca leaves which reach the United States, the largest proportion is received and consumed by the Liebig Company of New York, Paris, and London, a corporation which offers the remedy in two general forms-viz, Liebig Co.'s Wine of Coca and Liebig Co 's Coca Beef Tonic. Of these two preparations nothing can be said but in high praise. Their Wine of Coca is practically an admirable tincture of the leaf. Each fluid ounce contains the virtues of ten grains of Erythroxylon. The wine, or menstruum, is worthy of remark, being a rich and pure Spanish sherry imported directly from the great house of Gonzalez, Byass & Co., in Xerez, Spain. As Imperial Crown, this wine has gained a fame superior to that of the Oloroso and the Amontillado of former days. Without the Coca the Wine would be a splendid adjunct to every dining table or sick room. With the Coca it makes a delicious beverage as well as a medicine, and forms as perfect a preparation of Erythroxylon as science and art can produce.

Their Coca Beef Tonic is a preparation of great value as well as the basis of a series of preparations intended for different ailments, but agreeing in the need of a nutritious and slightly stimulating nerve tonic as the chief ingredient. The Coca Beef Tonic consists of Imperial Crown Sherry with ten gains of coca and the nutritive elements of two ounces of choice beef to the ounce of wine. It is used as a basis for eleven combin tious. compri-ing quinine, citrate of iron, iron and quinine, iron, quinine and strychnine, pepsin, pancreatine, pepsin and pancreatine, calisaya, iron, bismuth and strychnine, iron, quinine strychnine and pepsiu and calisaya, iron an phosphorus. All of th se preparations will be recognized and appreciated by the professional eye The one probably of the greatest general value is the Coca Beef Tonic, with citrate of iron, quinine and strychnine. This is by far one of the best upbuilders of a broken down or impaired system that medicine can offer to the public.

The Liebig Company is to be complimented upon the success of its efforts, and upon the intrinsic excellence and value of these preparations.--The American Analyst, Oct., 1886. When prescribing please specify LIEBIG CO.'S, to prevent substitution.

Only Chemically Pure Salts used in the preparation. The alkaloids in Syrupus Roborans are very soluble, and will not precipitate unless an incompatible agent is added.

To distinguish it from our other preparations of the Hypophosphites, we have given it the name of "Syrupus Roborans," and in prescribing please use this name to avoid confusion. The satisfactory results derived from Compounds of the Hypophosphites, under proprietary names, should encourage the prudent practitioner in the use of a preparation which specifies the exact quantities of the Ingredients, especially such powerful agents as Strychnine, Quinine, etc.

As a nerve stimulant and restorative in wasting and debilitating diseases, as well as an aid to the functions of digestion and assimilation, as a general tonic, a constructive agent in Insomnia, Pneumonia, Night Sweats, Rickets, Chronic Diarrhea, Tuberculosis, Bronchial Asthma, Bronchitis, Children's Diseases, Marasmus, Neuralgia, Dementia, Strumous Diseases, Phthisis Pulmonalis, General Debility, Anæmia, and especially in Convalescence, this compound has no superior.

The success which has attended the use of the Hypophosphites has been ascribed to the results of the patient investigations of Dr. J. F. Churchill, of Paris, and many formulas purporting to be that originally used by him have been prepared and presented to the profession.

It is certain that Dr. Churchill preferred the combination of Soda and Lime in Pulmonary complaints, but added potash and Iron in special cases. Many years have passed since his formulas were published, and it has been found that the experience of the profession demanded the attention of other reconstructive agents.

Dr. J. I. Fellows, of St. John, N. B., claims to have been the pioneer in adding the Hypophosphites of Manganese, Quinine, and Strychnine in tonic and stimulating quantities. This excellent combination has met with the most flattering success, and the proprietors of

SYRUPUS ROBORANS

Now offer to the profession a preparation which they are confident, from the indorsement it has already received, will answer all the objections of irregularity of quantities, etc., which have been urged against other preparations, while the important items of cost, elegance of appearance, and palatability have been made matters of secondary importance only to purity of ingredients and care in manufacture.

SYRUPUS ROBORANS has always been kept strictly in the hands of the medical profession, never having been advertised in any publication but medical journals. It is prescribed by the leading physicians wherever introduced. We have many testimonials to its value, and refer to our prominent city physicians.

The favor with which SYRUPUS ROBORANS has been met is wide-spread.
The Louisville Medical News says:

"SYRUPUS ROBORANS.-The value of the Hypophosphites as therapeutic agents is now so generally recognized as to need no more than a passing suggestion when a new preparation containing or representing them is announced. Rapid advances in manipulative pharmacy have made practicable the exhibition of these compounds in a form which, until recently, had scarcely been attempted. Instead of the nauseous, changeable, and consequently variable mixtures hitherto presented, we are now furnished with an elegant, stable, definite, and palatahle preparation bearing the above title. The name of its well-known makers, Messrs. Arthur Peter & Co., of this city, is a sufficient guarantee that at all times the preparation will be of the same high degree of excellence as now."
